i said to start a discussion thread because Pearly's was a repost, so locked and perhaps to be deleted, so why start a discussion there.

other thread was locked, more as an annoucement.

So thank you for heading my advice and starting a discussion thread and for bitching about it!

:D

I'de just like to point out that even if something is legal - it doesn't mean that the regular insurance companies don't like it. For example, aftermarekt intakes can be legal, but most insurance companies would cancel you or deny your claim if they found out you had one.

Yeah, technically you have to inform your insurance companies of any modifications made to the vehicle, and they'll drop you like a hot potato for power adders or even such trivial things as a set of mild lowering springs.

Then you end up having to pay the outrageous rates for facility insurance.

It's a stupidly unfair system by insurance companies who can't be bothered to determine what's safe and legal and what isn't.

So does this mean do I have to fax the invoice over to my broker when I get CAI?

Yes and no.

Technically, any material change to the vehicle requires notification. Unfortunately, they can look at it and decide you're a punk street racer and they should cancel your policy.

There's no set rules on what's allowed and what isn't.

I'd call your insurance company anonymously and ask them what their policies are on modifications and what is and is not allowed officially.

Um.. the honest answer is yes.

But I don't suggest you do that unless you want to risk getting canceled on the spot.

Beware. A lot of insurance companies are just itching to drop you like you're hot.
