Indy-Cator shiftknobs
A revolutionary product! This universal shiftknob with LCD display is not only good for looks: it also increases driving safety and helps reduce fuel consumption by up to 15 percent by means of an adapted driving style. :loco

This shiftknob fits all cars with manual transmissions up to 6 speed and is designed to work with every gearshift pattern.

A light sensor in the Indy-Cator adapts the brightness of the digital display to the surrounding light by means of an automatic dimming function, ensuring optimal readability at all times.

The connection to the cars power supply and gear assignment programming is very simple, and of course the shiftknob comes with detailed instructions for installation.

Available with red or blue display.

Indy-Cator shiftknob, red US $ 169.00
Indy-Cator shiftknob, blue US $ 169.00

I think I'd want to hear reviews or see it in person first, plus I have an Automatic so it doesn't help me.

It goes by how clammy your hand is.

They offer another version that tells you your sex appeal rating.

It would make more sense if the gear was displayed on the dashboard so you don't have to take your hands off the shift knob and look down to see what gear you are in. Be that as it may I will say it meats the requirements of being cool.

Meh.

That looks like something I would get sick of pretty fast.

I like it! Does it make the car faster?

ya.. shows you that you're in 6th while driving in reverse ;)

EDIT: i drove hoem from work today and the LCD screen would have been blocked by my hand pretty much all the time except for when cruising in 5th on the highway.. and then it would stay in 5th anyway.. i call rice :)

Cool idea, not very pratical, I think it would only tell the person in the back set what gear you are in.

Auto's have this on the dash.

It might make the car go faster, but doesnt add the horsepower boost like racing stripes do :chuckle

I think this reeks of rice

wouldnt your hand be covering it.. like all the time?

and why are you looking at your boot while driving anyway!!!?

Skarbro

Well if you are driving properly, your hand is only on the shifter when shifting - the rest of the time it's on the wheel. But it is a silly mod IMO.

Perhaps this mod is for traffic use.

toronto traffic.... it will just stay on 1 or N.

Huh?

Both of your hands can't be on the wheel while sitting in the traffic. Well... you won't find them on the wheel much. So perhaps, this mod is intended and has its use in the traffic with 15% better on the gas mileage. :pop

I don't care how useful it is... but that looks damn cool.

I would crash my car if i had that. would want to look at it all the time, which would mean my eyes wouldnt be on the road. not a good invention for a daily driver, but mad props for anyone that has a "show" car.

Not bad, and I'm sure my fiance who is going to start driving manual soon enough would like to confirm which gear she's in. Neat in concept, but I like my stock leather/chrome shifter and want to put money like that elsewhere for sure.

That's pretty pricey for a shift knob. It's more for your passengers to see what gear you're in.
