Hey guys and girls..

Name is Alex and I'm a n00b to the Mazda community. Well I don't even own one. But I'm put forward before one soon. A really good friend of mine, a girl, is getting an 07 in True Red. Personally I work with Subarus (look at the Pic link in my signature for my car). She wants her car to look nice. First thing is lowering.

Questions:

True/False.. Heard that you have to take the axles out or apart of something of the sort to do the front springs? Anyone?
What spring choice do we have that will give it a conservative drop, yet still not look absolutley stock. Personally I'm riding on Tein H-techs on my Subie and love them.. So does she. They are hard enough for tough turns and soft enough for day driving. Also we would be using these on the stock struts.Thats it for now really.. Thanks for any help :D.

i can only attest for the front springs, when i did mine, there was no need to remove axles, i mean yes, it dropped down, but nothing was removed.

conservative drop springs would be the mazdaspeed springs, eibach pro kit springs, im sure there are others

I also heard/noticed that springs tend to be cheaper for u mazda fans.. Must be nice lol

EDIT: I don't get it.. my initial post shows no signature..

just get the eibach prokits (rumour has it that Mazdaspeed are just prokits anyway)

does your friend have a sedan or hatch? so we can find you the right picture.

That'll do just fine! Thanks so much guys.. I appreciate that big time.

Once this car gets a bit of a lowering job done and some other things, you should see it at a meet or two.. Still though, my only disappointment with her car is that it has a lack of a third pedal :(.. lol

HAHAHA, thats a new one. I usually say something like "the problem is that its missing a third pedal" and stuff to nearly every opinion rated question she throws at me. Even one like "what do you think of the colour?" HAHA

I have heard the same thing, that the prokits are the same as the mazdaspeed kits. But I have a MS3 with the mazdaspeed kit ( Eibach not avail.) and I find the the drop is not as much as the prokit on a GT. The prokit seems to drop the car more than the mazdaspeed kit. On my MS3 the drop might be only about a 1/2 inch if that versus 1 inch on the prokit. When I purchased the speed kit, the dealer could not confirm the drop, but as for the prokit I was told around 1 inch. Can anyone confirm the drops for these two kits. I did however find that after I got the speed kit, the car is even more stiffer than it was with the stock springs. ( Still not happy with the drop because it almost looks stock)

two things in your case. 1)The drop on a speed will appear be less as it is lower than a regular GT by default. 2)The mazdaspeed springs include camber kits as I recall. These will raise the back end to avoid tire wear. Another reason the drop might look off to you.

Depending on the mazdaspeed spring kit you bought... one comes with the cambers, one doesnt as far as I know.

The best part about the mazdaspeed drop kit is the red springs. They look killer from behind.

The kit I bought came with the camber plates, and it retails for around $580. I was given a discount on it, so it cost me $499. Scarborough mazda charged me $150 for the install. Total with taxes was just under $800. If you own an M3 , go with the Eibach because it drops it around 1 inch versus 1/2 inch. Secondly it would cost about $150 less then the mazdaspeed kit, but be warned. If you still have warranty on the car, I was told that buying the eibachs MAY VOID your warranty.

If you blow a shock with the Eibachs on your car then your warranty will be void. Simply having them on your car does not void your warranty.

just the warrenty on the replaced part or anything that may have broken b/c or the replaced parts

I didn't want any problems with the warranty for the car, Like ParsM3GT said,
having it on won't void your warranty, but if something goes and I have the Eibachs on, it will void any warranty on the suspension of the car that has failed due to the mod. I expected more or just as much of a drop from the mazdaspeed kit because it came with a rear camber plate , but that wasn't the case. Even my CAI is a mazdaspeed unit, I know I could have paid less for both with aftermarket units.
