On Tuesday I took my car to the dealership, and they let me know of a recall on the Mazda 3'z.

I don't know if it's on all years but the 06's for sure.
The recall was when you push the info button it's supposed to also let you know how much gas you have remaining before empty. If yours doesn't work go get it fixed! :-)

Oh and they never sent me notice about it I only found out by taking it in.

What if everything works but the avg speed one?
Even if I reset it on a highway, when I get off the offramp it still tells me somewhere in between 36-44km/h
it's wierd, everything else works.

Call me stupid but do you mean it will tell you how many ltrs of gas you have left or the amount of kms.

Wild Weasel

It tells you how many km's you have remaining on the tank. It does this based on your average L/100km and how much gas is left in the tank.

It's a rough estimate, but nice to know.

WTF is the info button?

Caz
05-17-2007, 03:04 PM
It is on '06 and up models.
It switches from the clock displaying to show remaining KM's, Average fuel consumption, average speed and current fuel consumption.

I didn't know we have that feature. My car doesn't have it. Tell you how much gas remaining before empty? Like 4 gals left or 16 liters left?

Mine only says 110 Km/miles before empty !!! (which is distance before empty)

b3GS
08-31-2007, 12:30 PM
It doesn't tell you how many litres are remaining.. only distance before empty

and I was told by the dealer.. that even when that says Zero.. you still have 30kms or so to go

Unless you get in after my wife and then when it says Zero you pretty much have Zero. (only happened once so far)

What I noticed while looking at the avg speed is that it changes even when your idling at a stoplight. So, that means that the computer thinks that you are still moving because you still consume gas when idling. Therefore the avg speed is calculated along with the time you spent sitting idle. Which explains the low avg speed.

Or maybe you guys are all Granny drivers.....just j/k.

I would think the system would be tied in with (among other things), the speed sensors; either tranny or wheel, so if its giving you a wierd avg than the programming must be faulty.Has anyone asked at Mazda if there might be a program update?

No that is not the case because you are not moving the computer keeps shooting upwards with your fuel consumption which is bogus because at idle cars use the east amount of fuel but what i have heard is that the 3 uses the most fuel at idle. Doesnt make sense to me but w/e as for the avg speed that has to be constantly reset to 0 aslong as you are moving it will always give you acurate readings but when you shut the car off it will save that in memory and until reset it will just keep going down. I figured that out on my rental. It was always telling me my avg speed was 20km/h LOL until i reset it then it gave me accurate readings

New-B here.

Traded up to the GS on my 08 model... love the info button but i just have one complaint. After ahving driven a VW Passat with near the same feature, the fuel consumption (km's remaining) was fairly accurate.

BUT

On my 3, the fuel remaining is NOT accurate. Has anyone else noticed this? Just time how long it takes for the meter to drop 1 km as you time the distance of 1km with your trip meter. You'll see that it isn't exactly accurate and I dont like that :(

Specially with the price of gas here in Nova Scotia...

I got about 510km on a tank of gas only because it said I had 0km remaining when I drove about 505km.

So, I immediately drove to the nearest gas station thinking I'm gonna run out of fuel. Turns out I filled up 47L, which means I could've driven a bit more.

bunchi
05-26-2008, 06:23 PM
it's there but I don't really use it... just like you I saw it said 0km remaining, so I pulled up to the first gas station. I guess they made it in such a way that there's still a few liters allowance when it says 0kms remaining. It would make you panic even more when it goes 0km remaining and your car shuts down at the same time right? :chuckle

Is this one of the features that isn't on the GX? Or should it be working on an '08.5 GX?
