I know this topic has been covered before but I'm having some serious problems taking out the resonator.
I have the first 2 bolts taken out with a 8mm wrench but the 3rd one I really can't get it out. It doesn't turn when I put the wrench on. Should I just burn the stupid thing off or is removing my bumper the only option.
Thanks,
KenYork

I would recommend taking the bumper off anyhow. I too my resonator off once. After the three bolts were off, the space is very tight to take the resonator out. I think I even had to take the wheel off.

That is correct... When I was removing my resonator, profusion advised me to take off the wheel for easier removal.

I took off the wheel but I still can't take the 3rd bolt off, I've tried twice already. My resonator is hanging there right now.
I have a 06 HB btw, dunno if it makes a difference. I want that thing out.

I took it out the front rather then the back. I did it while my headlight was off for the angel eyes. Trust me, it was SOO easy to wiggle it out and that 3rd bolt is right infront of your face with the headlight gone. Bumper takes 5min to get off, and another 2 for the headlight.

Can someone confirm me that this is the same for a hatch too.

I'll be doing this soon also. I want to run a straight pipe in place of the intake resonator. I've read somewhere about people using plastic plumbing parts to achieve the bends necessary.
I don't plan on getting a CAI for insurance reasons.

i didn't take the bumper off, just put the car on the stand and wheel off, take you time and you should be fine.

Do you have pics or link to pics of the straight pipe?

i would highly recommend taking the bumper off. when i initially installed my CAI, i didn't take it off, but after a month or so, i needed to make some adjustments and i ended up taking the bumper off. it's very easy to do and if i had done it in the first place, the CAI would have been installed properly.

Then it looks like that's what I'll do - take the bumper off.

Did you follow this to take your bumper off and do you have a hatch?

I have the mazda 3 service manual so i used that as reference. Looking at the link and from what i remember, it seems like the same process. I have a sedan.
If you follow the guide from the link, you shouldn't have any problems.
Skarbro - you can remove the resonator if you jack the left side up and remove the wheel, but because it's soooo cramped in there, my hands were all scratched/cut up... It's just a hell of a lot easier removing the bumper.

Hopefully it's similar for a hatch too, I'll be doing it 2molo.

the only difference between the hatch and sedan would be the grill section seeing as how the grill is different... all the other clips etc. should be exactly the same.

Got the Fujita installed today, bumper took me about 15 minutes and the difference is the grill part as Ex-Rolla said.
Instead of two screws for the hatch there's only 1 screw and the rubber part just comes out when you pull it.
I never took off the bumper. I've installed 6 CAI on mazda3. And I never had to take off the wheel or bumper. The only bumper I took off to install the CAI is on the speed3 because it uses pins instead of bolts. The 2007 is also slightly different then my 2005, but not much.
But it is easier to take the bumper off though.

I didn't remove the whole bumper cover. I just opened it up on the driver's side and bent it so that I had enough room to work with.
