Hello,
Basically, how does it work when you buy something in the us and come back to canada? How do they charge you taxes? if you show up without bills and items are not in packages, etc...can you just go through the customs?
cheers

When you get to the border, they ask if you're bringing anything back. If you lie, you run the risk of being caught and facing the consequences.
Normally, you tell them what you have and show the receipts. They figure out what you owe and you pay it right there.
If you don't have receipts, you can just tell them the value but if they think you're lying, they can put you through the ringer for it. I've been searched on a few occasions while they looked for a receipt on me.

Depending on the size, remove/get rid of all of the packaging and mail the receipts to yourself from the US.
