Hey all,

Well I have XM radio in my car and I had to get a noise filter to kill the static I was hearing. I got one off of ebay and it works great but even on full blast, the sound that comes out is really quiet. I mean if I switch to radio and put the volume on 30 then it's pretty loud, with the xm radio, it's just normal volume.

Is there any fix for this?

Thanks

Before you had installed the static filter did you have this problem? I've got a digital aux connection to my stock HU and i don't have the same problem or have heard of this in regards to XM units.

I know there are some other people who have the XM or Sirius add-ons and they never commented. What year is your Mazda 3 and I assume your connecting it to the stock Mazda 3 HU?

Is there a SLA on stock decks?? Meaning the ability to adjust the input level of different sources? ie. radio, cd and xm/aux?

On most aftermarket decks you will have that ability... I dont recall on the stock deck. I switched mine out almost instantly.

I have a 2007 Mazda 3 GT with the factory AUX input. I got a noise thingy off of ebay that people on the other mazda 3 forum suggested.

It's basically kills the static but also cuts the volume down into half. Before the filter, the volume was normal but it had static.

No Idea what that means. Is there a factory option for satellite that I missed maybe? I know there is a satellite button but I have no clue what it does. Maybe I can buy something to fix that? Let me know!

I really don't think there is that option. I even looked on the noisefilter for a knob to maybe up the volume with no such luck.

How does everybody deal with this? It sucks :(

Thanks

As for the static issue, where did you place the receiver? maybe that's it? Or is it that your ebay static reducer faulty? Supposedly there is a certain way you are to attach that static reducer, by the battery or something?

Can anyone confirm this?

Who did you buy it from on ebay?

If it was thespeedline aka Naborrey... it is the unit. It most likely needs to be modified a little to make sure it is plugged in all the way..

Do you have specs or a link to the unit that you bought? Most of these filters are just ground lifting circuits, meaning it raises the ground reference to a level above the static. By doing this, the amplitude of the input signal is reduced, so the output is also decreased.

I bought this one off of this guy

http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=007&sspagename=STRK%3AME%20WN%3AIT&viewitem=&item=170099508784&rd=1&rd=1

It seems to be plugged in all the way. If I plug in my mp3 player to the same thing, no issue as in the volume is normal, as soon as I plug in the XM radio, it is normal volume for a second and then cuts into half!

What XM reciever do you have? I have the dephi roady xt.... There is an option that is labeled as 'audio level' 1-6. Perhaps yours has something like this too?
