I've been searching for a bit and I can't seem to find an answer. I haven't driven an automatic in a number of years and I'm curious if you can adjust the amount the car rolls when your foot is off the brake. I find that my 3 rolls pretty briskly when I take my foot off the brake at a traffic light (on a flat road). Reversing out of my garage is pretty brisk too. I actually have to be careful there because I live in a townhouse complex and we have row garages off of a driveway. In either case the RPMs of the motor do not seem very high (in the 650 range or so). I hadn't really thought about this except I borrowed my inlaws Ford Escape and with that thing when you take the foot off the brake it hardly moves at all.

Thanks,
Rich

No, the car wants to maintain idle and the tranny wants to engage. At low speeds with an auto, you simply control the speed with the brake pedal. That's why you need your foot on the brake in order to shift out of park. So you start off stopped, and go from there.

I drove a 97 corolla before my 3 and my corolla barely moved too. I think its somehting with shitty/old cars, they don't like to roll.

it also depends on the incline you are on if any.

I believe it's more like 33.4%.

back on topic....
just control with brakes.
the Mz3 doesn't roll backwards at all on a steep hill (e.g. bayview north bound, just north of steeles). the only time it rolled backwards on me is in the time square underground parking lot. in which case i drove with both foot

Every car/manufacturer's different.
I don't have a Mz3 auto, but my mom's 94 Integra rolls pretty fast on idle as well.
I drove an auto 03 or 04 civic (a friend's) and it didn't roll much compared to the Integra.
You'll just get used to it.

I dont' suppose you can adjust it.
