hello, guys,
I just bought a new 2007 M3sport GT. very happy:chuckle.
but, i don't know what "Anti-theft alarm system" is. that s a standard for GT.
Is that the Theft-Deterrent System shown on page 3-29 in the user manual? If not, then what is that alarm system? thank you!!!

You didn't buy a BMW...
He might have. Though then I'd question why he was asking us about it... http://www.michelleandkevin.ca/forum/images/smiles/gotme.gif
If you're talking about the sticker on your window, then yes, it's referring to the stock stuff in the manual.
It's not terribly advanced, but it's better than nothing and the sticker is there to warn away would-be hooligans more than anything else.

All the alarm does is blow the horn if any of the doors are opened while it is armed.

it's very basic but it's there so you can tell your ins co that you have an alarm and get your rates lowered ;P (or so they claim)

Including the hood
I think it also has an immobilizer which prevents the car from starting if the incorrect key (not programmed for the car) is used...like a screw driver. :)

do you mean this alarm is a audible alarm?
the horn will be on if some one try to open the door when the door is locked?
my sport GT doesnt have this function. isn't it included in the sport GT pac?
thank you.

The alarm will sound if you open the doors from the inside with the alarm engaged. Its for when someone breaks the window and reaches in. The 2007's produced after jan 07 may also have the glass breaking sensor but not sure.

I lock my car (all doors locked) and then i tried to open a door without pressing the unlock button. my car didn't produce any sound. I am afraid that the fxxking dealer uninstalled my alarm system which my GT should have.:complain:complain:complain

You locked it with the remote right? (not the power locks inside the car).

yes, press remote "Lock" outside the car then open the door by pulling the door handle. no response from the car.:bang:bang:bang:bang:bang:bang

cuz you haevn't broken in yet :loco
lock the car while you're inside and then pull on the door handle (from the inside).. the equivalent of a thief smashing your window to open the car from the inside when locked.. yes there are more finesse ways of getting into your car but that's just an easy visualization :)

did you ever try something like what i just mentioned? lock outside and open outside. did your car make any response?

How do you open the car from outside if the doors are locked? The alarm will NOT sound if you simply pull on the handle of a locked door. The door must OPEN (ie. "break and enter").
Try as majic said: lock the car while you're inside (with the remote) and then pull on the door handle (from the inside)..

yes.. you unlock but for some reason don't open the door within 30sec .. the doors automatically 're-lock'.. i finally get to the door just to pull on the handle, dislocate my shoulder while doing so :) and find the door locked.. no alarm goes off..

you're crazy.. :loco :p
i just spent like 5 min locking unlocking and trying to set off the alarm and the ONLY way i could do it was to lock myself inside the car (fob or central door lock) and then try to open the door by MANUALLY unlocking one door and then using the inside handle to open the door.. pretty much breaking the circuit existing between the door and the frame of the car while 'armed via remote or central lock)

Ok lets try this.
Steps to simulate B&E (break and enter for MK in the other thread).
Step 1. Roll down drivers window;
Step 2. Get out of car;
Step 3. Lock the car using the remote key fob (look at speedometer and see if red key is flashing);
Step 4. Reach into car through open window and unlock door from the inside;
Step 5. Open door using inside door handle;
Step 6. Alarm will sound (horn beeping). Use the unlock button to turn the FN thing off
Tested and it works

Step 1. Roll down drivers window;
Step 2. Get out of car;
Step 3. Lock the car using the remote key fob;
Step 4. Go put key fob in house and come back (not sure if alarm won't sound if the imobilizer can sense the key is close by but if majic can sit in the car and have the alarm go off then this may be a mout point);
Step 5. Reach into car through open window and open using inside door handle.
Step 6. Alarm should sound. Run and get the keys and turn the FN thing off
I'm sure the car can't sense if the key is close. And the whole alarm thing might just be engine immobilzer without the proper key. I don't believe there is anything at all with the doors. The reason for that logic can't be named on public board.

You are correct and when I went to test this I updated my post to remove that point.

ok.. so umm besides that we keep re-stating the obvious.. what was the point the OP was trying to make/question was asking?! :whoa
-The OP thinks the alarm should sound when it is armed and someone tries to open the door. The OP also believes that because the car doesn't do this the dealership uninstalled the alarm.
If the OP tries one of the tests listed, then when the alarm sounds they will find out that they indeed have the OEM Alarm system

thanks for all your reply.
I just wanna know what the "Theft alarm system" is. "Theft alarm system" and "Electronic Immobilizer" are standard of GT model. I have found out the Elec Immobilizer worked in my car. but I didn't any evidence that the theft alarm is working. maybe it is not the kind i expected?
and as i know those alarm system ( sound when break in) will have something installed under the windshield and you can see a LED light flashing at night.

No, i have tried the "inside method" yesterday. still no response.
Did you press the button twice to arm it?

Is the hatch closed tight and all doors fully closed?
Does the red light with a key in the speedo flash when you have locked the car? If the red light is not flashing the alarm is not activated.
Other than that I'm at a loss.
Maybe the OP does have a Bimmer

when would you like this 'anti theft system' to be activated? when you PULL on the handle but not open the car?

Is that a bad thing? LOL My alarm would go off like 10 times a week for no reason.

I think he's expecting shock sensors and stuff like an aftermarket alarm has. With those, if you just bump the car or drive by with a loud exhaust, the alarm goes off.
That's not what this is. Factory systems aren't so advanced. :)

You should go to a meet and talk to someone face to face and have them teach you how to use the OEM alarm.
