View Full Version : Should I get HID Fogs?

Hey guys,
Having done the Angel Eyes and Independent Fogs modifications, I feel that I need brighter fog lights for "safety" during the day. That's my reasoning and I'm sticking to it. :loco
My concern is the amount of glare which will be generated, given that the 2007 fogs do not have projectors.
For those who have HID fogs, do you think the amount of glare is intolerable? How is it compared to stock?
Tnx

If you have the cash...go for it. 04-06 were halogen also and there isn't that much glare from them. Personally I love the look of them.

I an 05 with hid fogs and honestly the beam isn't any different from stock and shoots out 3 feet the most. There isn't any glare at all....it's more for esthetics then function....

Thanks guys.
SSG, you've got email. I'm looking for something that I can get for the weekend. Other places need to order them from the US. :(

The glare from a distance isn't bad. Only time I've been flashed is after my angel eyes install and I didn't reset the levels on my lows, and I have 50w HID's lows and 35w HID fogs.
I still have glare but there is a cut-off of sorts. Wish I had a stock pic.

HID Fogs look great! I have the independant fog mod which also looks awsome! Audi style is best IMHO! Hid fogs stand out! No function what so ever... but they look great! 235 from SSG! cant go wrong with that!

If you can retrofit projectors they become more functional.

lol, it might be the pic cause the kit is a 35 watt and its not that bad in person, I was driving behind doughboy the other night with fogs and low beams and asked him about how they were for the driver ahead and he said it was fine.

Same price just get the right bulb. I also went cheap on my fogs and went with an ebay kit.

angel eyes look cool and all , but how long can you actually expect them to last ?
WeatherB
06-12-2007, 07:41 PM
If you get them through Devin, they come with a life-time warranty. The manual says they should last 50,000 hours.
That works out to nearly 6 years of round-the-clock driving.

first of all, using tags is a retarded way of resizing pictures.. WHY? two reasons: it does NOT decrease the bandwith as a resized picture would and the browser often does not do a good job at the scaling resulting with a picture that is either jagged or not very clear
go to http://www.oakvillefestival.com/
there is an image on the right hand side "top 50 2007, sponsored by via" see how long that image takes to load plus how shitty it looks :loco
http://www.oakvillefestival.com/FEOTOP50_RGBVIA1.JPG
that is the original pic.. :whoa
anyway.. there are FREE tools to resize pictures.. this one, image resizer (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx), is a part of MSFT's powertoys.. it's quick and easy to use
also, M3F uses different forum software and the tags aren't compatible (some are but not all)

Thanks everyone for your help... I received the kit today and managed to install it within about 30 minutes. Very easy and straight forward. :-)
They are a bit brighter than I expected, but too late to do anything about it now.
No thread is complete without a picture. Please ignore the ghetto ramps.

I'm very happy with the angel eyes. Gives the car a unique look.
The installation is easy, but time consuming. You really only need these two guides:
