While I haven't told the current car (Saturn SL2) yet <for fear it will decide to rebel!!>, within 1-2 months it will be replaced with a shiny new Mazda3 GT !

Am still flip-flopping on whether to go sedan or sport...

Did an Mazda3sport test-drive tonight. With an unexpected emergency braking "adventure" during the test-drive I was *very* impressed with how it handled and stayed controllable throughout.

Oooo the new M3's are going to be sweet! 400+ hp is insane for a car that size. I'de trade my Mazda3 for one of those.

Seriously, this is no joke. I was talking to a guy at work and he told me he just got a new M3. I was about to faint, before I realized he was talking about a Mazda 3.

Like calling the old Chevette a 'Vette.

Thank you for the welcome.

Yes, by M3 I meant Mazda3. Will not repeat that error, sorry.

FWIW, I am seriously leaning towards the hatch...

I find my sedan to be very functional as well. Yes the hatch has a little more space for cargo...but we all know which looks better! :chuckle

Think about what you want to use the car for, i.e. if you ever want to go golfing with more than 2 people... don't get the hatch.

you HAVE TO drop the back seats to fit a adult sized golf bag in a hatch.

Hatches have some nice lines though, and would fit your surf board :chuckle

Unfortunately I do keep flip-flopping back and forth between the hatch & the sedan. Have done the pros and cons list, etc etc.

Co-workers have tried to help by pointing out I would get to see more of them because they would be calling me to help pick-up/move things (not sure that is a good thing...) :-)

Matt: Thanks for the info re: golf clubs.

It would be nice if I could bring a demo home/rent one for a few days and try different things in it (e.g. the biggest suitcase; the Loblaws green bins), but I don't know that such htings are possible anymore, and I have no idea who (if anyone) rents Mazda3 hatches...

Welcome,

Can you elaborate on the 'adventure'

Thanks for the welcome.

The "adventure" involved an 80 kph rural road (= one lane each way), a gravel shoulder, a guardrail and a creekbed (the last two only in how *close* they had been), and a Mazda3 hatch being taken on a demo ride from the dealership and needing to go from 75 to "stop" (well, ok, technically, "very slow") ASAP :-)
