Did a search, the topic present is similar but my issue is the complete opposite, anyway here goes.....

Last week I had to fill up my tank but noticed that the pump would click and stop pouring out gas even though there was definately a good 35Litres to fill. Basically the pump itself would spit up 1-2Litres and then click and so on. Eventually I assumed it was an issue with the pressure/nozzle and filled up and drove off.

Tonight, I had to fill up similar to last week, but visited another station and the problem re-occured. Needed to fill up about 40Litres and the pump would spit up about 1-2Litres then click. I tried adjusting the pressure of the handle but whatever I've done, it kept re-occuring.

Has anyone experienced anything similar to this? Going off on the assumption, if there is a fault with the tank in my car would it be addressed via warrenty?

Any insight would be appreciated, TIA

i found that if your shoving the pump handle flush into the filler neck trhis happens. if you let it hang naturally with the handle vertical it should help the problem. just experiment with diff positions of the filler nozzle to find which orientation works best.

Yeah, I've noticed this too, just don't shove the nozzle all the way down the tank, like garboui said, just let it sit "naturally" and you shouldn't have any problems.

It is called "Gas Pump Gag Reflex"

or GPGR for short..

Never had that problem with the 3, but my with my prelude it happened all the time. As the others stated you need to make sure the nozzle sitting properly to avoid the click off.

i have also had this happen, and as the others have said, just pull it out a bit and it is fine

but you have had the car for a while, if you never noticed this and now all the sudden it is happening? try to back it out a bit, if it doesn't work, then maybe there is a problem

good luck man!

There are so many sex metaphors just waiting to become a joke...
But yah as everyone else has said, but there was one time that it was a problem with the gas pump and I had to switch.

:chuckleI was trying to hold back, but if it really is a problem and you can't get it to go, just try the tip, lol

hahahaha.... talk about... hard not to make a joke especially after Broli's comment lmao.... Actually really had a problem with this on my last fill up. The pump was sitting normally... and it clicked... and literally about 1/2 a litre of gas came spewing out of the tank and went all over the side of the car. I started freaking out at gas station. I got a free car wash out of it... which is good I guess :p

But I like to insert it deep into the hole. Maybe it's just too big?

Thanks guys, I don't think it both times were shoved in too deep, but I'll try it out next time and hope it resolves the issue.

Much appreciated.
