as far as I know, no body in the GTA, there is a couple of guys boosting in Ottawa but thats it, as for nitrous, there was a black hatch with gold rims in the burlington-hamilton area that blowed up his motor at cayuga a month ago when he missed a gear while spraying.

lol well, at least if you blow ur engine .. rumor has it mazda doesnt tare down the motors and they r shipped back when they receive the replacement :P so you just do sum nice little swap everything back to stock, pretend u unno wtf happened and hope they swap out the engine before figure`n out wtf went wrong. I doubt that will actully work .. but i`m still tryin to hit 50posts soooo ya ...

id like to see where this thread goes, cuz i was shocked to see the engine bay clearance behind the 2.3 L engine. (probably the same with the 2.0) Boosting shouldnt have any spacing problems like other cars i've had.

Ryan - 105K KMs.... I dont care what Mazda thinks LOL!
ED - Lotsa room, and thats where the kits locate it. www.hiboost.com for pics of an install :)

John,

Yeah if you blow a motor just put a disi one in it's place.

Thanks Rob! :) Ryans a good guy... talked for years, but never met lol

The motor wont pop. Stand alone fuel and a good tune :)

^^ Exactly, John i'm very happy to hear about your plans, i would like to see that happening around here, people here is so afraid of turbos but with the proper tuning and the right components every thing should be fine. If you are going with the Hiboost kit, at 8 psi you can boost for long time without problems, and with the new set up; t3/t4 the tranny will hold up to 10 psi daylly driving.

Good luck man, kep us posted. :)

Thanks Jaun.

Boost doesnt scare me. If done properly, there is now worries. With Stand alone, injectors, and a proper tune, I am gold! :)

This is the IHI kit. Ball bearing, and a a pretty bullet-proof turbo (very popular with the Subbie Boys). I need some gauges still, but am pretty broke lol. Once I get those, this will go in. I guess I will have to make a meet or something this year too lol.

Flip - A DISI motor? pshhh... this will eat them up :)

hey John, are you getting the kit from foxfader on M3F? cause if you are buying a new one from hiboost, the new kits come with the t3/t4 instead of the IHI.

midnightfxgt

I am buying Fox's kit. Saves me well over $1000 of a new kit, and his is like new. The IHI is just as good (if not a little better) than the Garrett setup.

eeeep BOOST + NO LSD don't mix well

Plus Mazda3 trannys like to chew their teeth on any kind of major power increase >< 3rd is almost guaranteed to go within a short period of time

LOTS of guys running 6-8PSI daily without blowing gears. If I go 300WHP+, then I will consider :)

I want low boost to .. something that will make my car run high 13's / low 14's ..

The previous owner of this kit boosted 10PSI on the track. Ran 14.2 @ 104MPH, with nasty wheelspin. I think with good driving, I can hit high 13s at 8PSI.

That's called fraud.

If you're going to boost or spray your engine, you should accept responsibility for the consequences of your actions. If you won't, then you should be leaving it stock.

^^^ people that do that make the rest of us suffer with even more rigourus warranty claim inspections and eventually lead to corp. issued mod=no warranty period statements

Pfft. My Sunfire does just fine. :bana

Sure, an LSD would be nice and I'd love to have one but it's hardly a necessity.

everycar reacts different depending on the drive shaft lengths and a whole number of other variables so while that may be true for you, as a general rule of thumb 300+hp and no LSD isn't a good thing

Again folks, I do not plan on more than 300WHP right now, and I am out of warranty. :)

Wild Weasel

I'm nowhere near 300 hp in the Sunfire. It's somewhere around 220 or so. I agree though, that as you get much higher than that, the LSD becomes more and more important.

I think 230 or so is a good goal to shoot for when boosting a stock Mz3 though. More than that and you'll have to start being a whole lot more careful.

Not so. There are a LOT of guys running 8PSI all day everyday with no problems. These are strong cars. Also running a Standalone, with proper injectors, and a wicked tune is also to thank.

The stock clutch is supposed to hold up very well, but with 105K KM on mine, I dont know for how long :)

Thanks

Boost and Oil Pressure gauges are in my hands. AEM Wideband will be by Tuesday.

Also ordered and picked up the parts for a spin on conversion. This lets me use a sandwich adapter for the pressure gauge :). Just need the HiBoost kit now lol. That and my buddy to fiberglass a gauge pod on the center of the dash ;)

you know what would be pimp...

if you could get one of the motorized screens that devin has.....except, take out the screen and put in some guages....so then whenever you start the car, it would open....and when you turn it off, it closes. :chuckle

For sure.... I just dont want to fund that project :). I am having center peice glassed. So same spot, just no cool motorization!

If that was the case I say, screw the gauges and have the read out on the screen.

That is what a pimp would do!
