I'm not a big camera guy. However, I find the politics interesting. I see both sides of the equation, they are photographing an NFL game, they shouldn't be able to advertise for non NFL sponsors.
On the flip side, NFL shouldn't strong arm them to this extent.

I am not a hardocre camera guy. I have a DSLR and enjoy it. The politics is kind of stupid. Your forcing the advertising of a brand that may or may not being used by them. But if Nikon did it, its because its a super product :P hehehe... just help
