I am installing a switch for (removable) set of rally lights and want to put the switch in one of the blank spaces on the lower left dash, next to the instrument cluster brightness control. Anyone know how to remove these? Tried to get a jewellers screwdriver in the side, no joy, tried to reach up from under the dash to see if I could find a clip or release it from behind, no luck there either. Parts fiche shows a drawing of the part but no indication as to how it locks in.

Try the search, I remember a diagram of someone showing how to remove the whole thing. It actually involved removing a portion of the dash. The other way is to use a screw driver and pry some stuff out. But since your going to be installing a switch (running wires around) removing the plastic guard stuff won't be too much trouble?

Good instructions but too much work there Gizmo for just the switch blanks. You can just pull the panel with the clips in it out a bit (held on by clips). Once it's out just enough squeeze the tabs and pop the blank out.
Just do #6 without detaching it completely from the dash and #7. Took me about 90 sec to get it out.
