Thanks Valad and Tamara for putting together a CP-E order and taking care of all the details; thanks to Jimmy @ Street performance for the install.
The MS3 sounds very STI like now and has the unequal header length sound of the boxer engine which I love. The TBE and CAI combo REALLY unlocks the cars inner “Wild Child” personality by enhancing the unadulterated lunacy even more. At WOT the mature discreet nature of the MS3 is gone, replaced with a raucous daemon scream that will send chills down your spine and beckon the tires into painful protest in the first three gears; yet it still settles down pretty good at a cruise/hwy speed. It is definitely more noticeable than stock on the hwy, however isn’t intrusive by any means.
At slow 1, 2, 3 gear up changes with a few revs it burps, farts and grunts its way around town glancing for a piece of open asphalt to mark its territory with two black stripes and thus far has served up more temptation than I have been able to abstain.

yeah the stock downpipe seems to be the biggest power and noise silencer.... once thats gone watch out :bana
It would have been over $2k had i shipped on my own, so i deffinetely recommend on getting in on one of these buys next time if you're thinking about getting it as you can save enough to cover the cost of the install and then some

You gonna dyno your car? I want to see what kind of gains you get from the opened up downpipe.
I will wait for a bit to get mine unless one falls off a truck or something:chuckle.
Let me know when you will be at a mett next I want to hear the sound in person.

thinking of going to la paloma tongiht... i didn't do a baseline dyno so no point doing one now since you won't have anything to compare against. not sure why people want the people who spent all their money to get a mod to spend more money to prove to other people that the mod made gains :chuckle trust me, there are plenty more ponies in the parade now vs. with just the cai

Oh I belive you!! just wanted to know how much more power the DP gives. If it is a good power gain then I will get the DP.

If i left the current Mazdaspeed exhaust system, but only replaced the downpipe with the the cp-e downpipe, how much difference do you think that would make?

well people who have done just the CBE haven't noticed much power or noise, so i will assume the DP is responsible for most of the gains and the noise so therefore you should get most of the gain by doing the dp... but then you would be going from 3" to 2.25" for the rest of the way

UU is correct. I think your better off just getting the whole system rather than just the DP, as going from 3" to 2.25" will not yield the same results/gains. Not too sure how this will affect the back pressure ...
***EDIT . I stand corrected, the DP does the following: The result of our efforts is reduced backpressure, decreased turbo spool time, increased horsepower and a more aggressive sound. from CP-E website
