Right now I`m using a P4 3.0 Ghz, 2.5 gb of ram and I use a ATI 1600 512mb video card. When I first started playing BF2142 I used a ATI 9800Pro 256mb and the game ran perfectly smooth. You will need a high speed connection.

I haven't reinstalled it yet. I brought a new computer earlier this week. Will do so tonight!

my new computer is a bit better.

its a good game, even if its only 8 on 8 (in that case u don't need as much ram)

Whats the specs on your new pc?

You can get away with 1Gb of ram. The only major difference you will see with more ram is loading time.

PS You have 2 ingame names? If so what one are you using?

I caught a guy in my server hacking about a month ago. I was so happy he was caught b/c of who he was. Hes a very well known person in the Battlefield community and he was number 1 in the world for first month after the game was released. A lot of people suspected he was a hacker but know one could prove it until I caught him.

I hate hackers they are unskilled nubs.

actually the engine is really similar
To be honest, and this is also on other game review sites as well. The graphics on BF2 is nicer than 2142.

2142 has some new shaders and textures that need a little more juice from your pc then BF2 does.

Yes the engine is the exact same.

When I played bf2 with my old card ati9800pro I could play with all settings on high. When 2142 came out I couldnt go higher then medium until I got a new card.

I tested the betas for 2142, very fun. I especially liked the titan maps. :D

Because of this topic, I decided to install the demo. Since buying my comp. I really haven't played any games and I wanted something graphics intense to test the system. This morning I was up to 3AM playing trying to figure it out (I love these type of games and really got addicted to Quake before I banned myself for like 5 years). Occasionally I do play Halo 2 at my friend's place.

How do you call up on an bomber on the flag level? Or repair vehicles? Is there a game less vehicle orientated? I felt like it was just vehicle against vehicle and you pretty much couldn't do anything against a tank unless you had a vehicle of some sort (or rocket launcher thingy). IE. You couldn't kick them out like in Halo. I also found I couldn't tell if I was hitting the guy.. is there an indicator?

Is there another game more first player orientated with good graphics?

Ok first of all the BF2142 demo is the worst demo EA has ever released imho. The map you get in the demo is probably the least played map in the game. The most popular maps are the city based maps, there are about 5 of them. I think the game has about 11 or 12 maps not including the Northern Strike Booster Pack maps which comes with 3 maps and 10 new unlocks and a new game mode.

The are no bombers in this game if you are referring to air plain bombers. There are several ways to destroy a tank. 1. Be engineer and use your anti tank rocket launcher 2. Be recon and use RDX demo packs/C4, stick 2 or 3 on the tank and kaboom 3. Use the Rorsh aka rail gun. Its a ground mounted anti-vehicle weapon. 4. Or if you are a squadleader call out a orbital strike on the tank.
P.S. The ass of the tank is the weakest spot, one rocket and kaboom.

Repairing Vehicles.
There a few ways to do this.
1. Be engineer and pull out your repair tool. It looks like a neumatic nail gun but it is a welding gun, walk up to the vehicle point repair tool and on hold down mouse button. You can repair all ground vehicles, air ships and the commanders assets. 2. When you unlock the advanced repair tool you can be in a vehicle and drive up to another vehicle that needs repairs and you wont have to get out of the vehicle to repair him, just stop beside him.

Hit indicator.
Yes your crosshairs will light up when you hit someone.

This game has 11 or so maps, 40 ranks to climb, 40 unlocks to earn and use in game, about 50 awards to earn and 2 game modes.

I would say the coolest unlock in this game is Cloaking. Remember the movie Predator and he would cloak, it looks the same.

Another cool feature in the game is Dog Tags. Anytime you knife someone a set of that persons dog tags pops up on screen with their name on it. And also this game tracks all your stats and you can view all the dog tags you have collected.

Wow that was a mouth full. Trust me though as I said the demo does this game no justice. There should be a law against having this much fun. :)
