Which Intake Should I Get??

Hey guys,,,

im in the market for buy a CAI for my 07 GT Sedan,

im trying to fig out which one is the best overall...

my options are Mazdaspeed CAI or the Fuijita?

this type of question will generate a wide range of response....typically everyone is happy with whatever brand they hvae, so they'll just say that....

they are all fairly similar....you can't get "that" differnent with a CAI...

i have a Fujita and love it...

there are like 2-3 threads regarding the same basic question with LOTS of opinions and thoughts. take a quick look around and u might find some answers to your questions.

and yes many ppl are happy with theirs.
i believe the mazdaspeed comes with a splash guard as well that others don't have??

Each is different.
The Simota is the only one that is different (CF housing, but SRI)
The K&N is a SRI & CAI plus comes with a drycharger bag for the fillter
The F2, F5, Injen, AEM are all pretty much the same with slighty varying lengths and overall pipe diameters. (doesn't the F5 come with a filter sock?)
The Mazdaspeed comes with a warranty and the 270degree metal splash shield.

I think I've missed a couple, plus there is always the Home Depot special.

Overall gains are all practically the same, comes down to what you can afford really. And if your company biased.

I've done a lot of research on this and it seems that the Fujita F5 is the way to go, especially with the price specials on right now.

I hope to pick mine up next week (after pay day of course).

the F5 doesn't come with the "sock" (aka outerwear). But is available for about $20USD or so...

you have to get it from the US....i don't think any canadian retailers have it....check out M3F....

They all don't really do anything......make a little noise...make you rev. higher to hear it....makes you think you have lots of power.

take this for what its worth...but i actually felt a difference in performance....many will say its placebo......etc.

but my butt dyno sure feels like the car pulls harder

I don't find that the car pulls better, I just find that there is improved throttle response.

My Injen CAI is great. Sounds like I have an exhaust and much improved mid - high range RPM performance.

My range has also improved by 60 - 70 KM/week. I drive straight city so my average was 520 per tank with a little reserve and now I am just below 600 per tank.

I also have a voltage stabalizer and engine ground wiring kit if that helps?

I only run high test gas.

I believe it's dyno proven that the Fujita CAI give you a 10 HP gain. Check the dyno section in the forum but overall it's personal preference. I went with the mazdaspeed because of the warranty and it comes with a splash shield. On top of that, a CAI makes everyone's car sound greeaat.

I have MS CAI and I'm so loving it.
But MS CAI is much expensive than Fujita one and
I heard that there's no big difference between CAIs.

Its the same regardless of the tranny.

Help me , will springs only lower manual cars because automatic transmissions weigh more?

I got an AEM cold air intake for around $300, The instructions they give you are awesome, they are not generic instructions they are detailed step by step with pictures of our 3's and make it soooo simple to do. Also they have put the brackets for the maf sensor in the right place unlike the others I've seen at meets, This AEM intake is def the best one for our 3's

I'd go with a Weapon-r short ram. You dun have to take it off during winter, and it wont suck water up like a CAI. The WR intake also comes with an extension piece. It looks weird when its on, but it does the job.

You don't have to take off your CAI in the winter either.

Fujita is good one, is made by Injen and Aem...

Injen is one of the trouble free intakes...

but for full force power and air efficency....the F2 intake is the best on the market
