I own a 2006 Mazda3 but i am also currently trying to sell my '02 protege 5.
So today i take it into Scarb Mazda for Safety and emissions (130 + tax) and find out that they won't pass it until i replace one of my fog lights (which is an option on these cars to begin with) Worst part is the foglight works fine but there is a small hole in the covering where a rock must of hit it.

I'm really annoyed that this would stop them from safetying my Mazda, especially when they gave me the replacement fees (450+ for parts and labor JUST BECAUSE OF A SMALL HOLE FOR THE COVERING OF MY FOG LIGHT!)
Does this seem ridiculous to anybody else?

That nuts carsnick, sounds like a cash grab, take it to MOT, don't think they would give you the run around.

i've had a similar trouble w/ scarboro mazda service dept. b4 like 5 years ago....
they claimed that my 02 P5's fog is a "aftermarket" add-on
so they cannot warranty my fogs (cannot be opened, cuz screws
were all rusted/corrosion) then again, the OEM fogs are
standard in NA's P5, i still dun understand why they claimed
that it's a aftermarket....only thing i had on the fogs
that was aftermarket was the yellow 3M protective film on the lense. (and
i did notify them that)

Yeah i'm pretty annoyed with them. I live so close to them, but i'll start going to MoT any time the new Mazda3 needs service.
