Question: if our company camera did not caught it what happen do u think my policy rate will go up if i claim this to get it fixed???

Your rates won't go up since you are not at-fault. Although since the 3rd party is unknown, you have to pay your deductible. Go ahead and claim it if your deductible isn't higher than the repair cost.

I think he said that because it would be cheaper to have it fixed than it would be to pay the deductible.

judging by the fact that you dont even know what your deductible is...
it's probably 500$
in which case, paying for it out of your own pocket would be the smartest idea, as that wont cost 500$ to repair.
hopefully they caught it on camera, if that happens then you are in the clear! get the other ass to pay for it! :chuckle

Sad that people are so sh**ty like that, but they are scuzzy I remember this one time I was at my desk and looking out the window and some girl at my office smacked the whole side of another employees car... she got out.. looked at it... then moved her car to a different spot... I waited to see if she reported it.. but didnt so I did.... when she was questioned she denied it... but when they looked at the cars his beige paint was all over her wheels... and her blue paint was all around his car... so she got into a alot of trouble and in the end was terminated.... if she had been honest it would have been fine.. but she chose to lie....

I did some consulting work for a nation wide insurance company, and the policy is pretty much the same across the board from what I hear. Any time you make a claim, no matter who's fault it is, you can pretty much expect your insurance to go up when the time comes to renew your insurance for the year... it's just a matter of by what percentage. If it's an accident, someone breaks into your car, scratches the paint, etc...... it doesn't matter if it's your fault or not, any claim made will go on your record. That's why insurance companies kepe records of how many claims you have made. They normally go back 5 years, but I've heard some insurance companies go back even further.....
Rule of thumb, don't claim it unless you really have to. If you can afford to replace what got stolen, pay for the new paint job, fix the dent, etc.... then try to avoid going through insurance.

No problem Tizmee24.....
I know the mark on your car is annoying you (as it would myself if it were my car), but look at the bright side..... it could have been hell of alot worse.

I'm sorry to be blunt, but your absolutely wrong.
Your rates do NOT go up as a result of claiming for not-at-fault claims. This is a fact. If your rates go up, then it's because of other reasons.

More info...
From the Financial Services Commission of Ontario's website (the Ontario government body that regulates insurance companies) www.fsco.gov.on.ca :
http://www.fsco.gov.on.ca/english/insurance/auto/undautoins.asp#whatInsCompCantUse
What Insurance Companies Can't Use to Determine Rates
Your insurance company cannot use the following rating criteria to determine how much you should pay for automobile insurance:
credit history,
bankruptcy,
employment status,
whether you own a credit card,
how long you have lived in your current home,
not-at-fault accidents,
whether your vehicle is owned or leased, and
whether there was a period of time where you had no automobile insurance coverage.

I stand behind Skarbro....
As of this tuesday i just became a quality analyst...but for the past 3 years, i've been a licenced insurance advisor for RBC.
Rates do not go up just because of a claim, it depends on the type of claim. All claims are kept on record and for 6 years as per the Ontario Auto Application. Chargeable accidents are rated for 6 years. Not just any type of claim will affect rates, but are kept on record to review the overall risk and perhaps if any coverages may need to be amended upon renewal.

Well, obviously there is a difference of opinion here…. With both parties having legitimate cases to back them up….
What I would advise Tizmee24 is just ask someone who’s actually been in that situation where they made a claim themselves from a no- fault situation and ask them what happened at the time of there renewal. I could only speak for myself obviously, but when I was in the situation 10 years ago when some lady ran a light and hit me… it affected my insurance come renewal time. I know that was 10 years ago and things change, so just ask someone who has been in a situation recently who is going through renewing their insurance.

I can do that. I've claimed many not-at-fault claims and have never had a rate increase because of them.
And it's not my opinion - it's a fact. I've been an automobile insurance underwriter for years. This is my job. :)

Well then Skarbro... you answered my question I was going to ask about your background in insurance because you seem to have a wealth of knowledge!!

Even though rates are not supposed to go up because of claims....I think it's safe to say it does. Maybe not for any one person, but for everyone. If you don't have to claim it, don't.
Also, how do you argue that a scratch on your bumper is no-fault? Anyone could say a scratch or dent showed up when they weren't around.

^^ not true....
I made a DCPD claim (NAF) this march, i haven't received my renewal as it is in january, but i will be willing to bet that my rates will not go up.
If you rates went up after a NAF claim, it was due to something else (possibly general rate increase), but not directly as a result of the claim.
There are no ifs/buts about this...Skarbro provided the link so FSCO....ontario is probably one of most heavily monitored provinces in terms of insurance....insurance companies can't jsut go raise rates for no unexplained reason.
