hello, okay so i have the 07 GT with lux package and it came with stock HID 4300k.
Today i went out a bought 2 Phillips HID bulbs 6000K.
I got them installed and was pretty disappointed. they not even close to being as bright as the stock 4300Ks.
My buddy suggested to me that the stock ballast isnt the powerful and if i changed my ballast i might get a brighter light coming from the Phillips bulbs, bc he has phillips 6000K bulbs on his bmw.. and they are alot brighter.
Is this true> should i change my ballast? will this work? bc he has 2 spare ballasts at home for me. Or will it not work and be a wast of time and money?
Any insight, or experience pertaining to my problem will be greatly appreciated!
thanks...

6000K DO NOT put out more light (lumens) than the 4300K bulbs.
it is not the ballast, it is the fact that the higher up in Kelvin (K) you go, the less the lumens.

The 4300K are the brightest bulbs you can get. Nothing wrong with your ballast.
When I was looking into changing to a bluer light, I calculated that you'd lose about 15% light output, so I decided to stick with 4300/4500K.

i would suggest aim your headlights a little higher it will help. But i must disagree with you because i have 6k no name d2s bulbs (like yours) in my car and the difference between 4300k and 6000k is difference between night and day. 6000k i see soooo much more with such better light output

Wrong!!! the stock ballast is 35W. You can upgrade to 50W which give you 30%-40% more light and give you no problem. Check apexcone for upgrade kit.

Same rule applys to those ricer blue bulbs they used to sell at stores... the darker the tinge, the lesser light output goes through.... I'm very happy with my 6000Ks its just personal preference..

huh?
that site basically backs up what i said:
So allow me to explain the real truth of the matter... Philips is the number one manufacturer of HID bulbs. The Philips OEM D2S bulb is rated at 4100K at 12.8 volts and produces 3200 lumens of light. The Philips Ultinon D2S is 5800K at 12.8 volts and produces 2400 lumens of light. As you can see, with all other factors remaining constant, the brightness of an HID bulb declines the higher up the color index you go. Vision, a Korean bulb manufacturer, makes an 8000K bulb, which they used to advertise on Acura-Forums as 2000 lumens bright. This is barely a marked improvement over halogens, and will produce more glare and eye fatigue than it is beneficial. 4100K has been proven through tireless independent research by the Germans, Japanese, and Americans to be the most functional, truest white and thus the brightest possible color temperature (ceteris paribus).
Every car manufacturer in the world (including BMW and Audi) uses none other than a standard 4100K gas-discharge bulb. No exceptions. The reason being is that 4100K is daylight white in color and produces the same color visible light as direct sunlight. This is least fatiguing functional color on the eyes and produces the most comfortable contrast on the road.

I've runned into a problem installing the hid kit....everything works, bulbs and ballasts, but when I turn on the fogs, only the right one works the left one on the drivers side doesnt work, nothing wrong with the connection/wires/ballast/bulbs, I switched back to the regular halogen bulb and that works....any ideas? Tried switching ballast and bulbs, same problem on the drivers side...right side is fine just the left. Any solutions? Thanks! The right one is bright and im loving it so far....just wish the left one was working too....
