View Full Version : HID possible relay problem?

Last night I had Xenon help me aim my headlights cause mine were totally messed.

I have a relay by my driver side bulb and when he hit it the lights would flicker and sometimes just turn off and then come back on. The connection from the ballast to the bulb is also right by there. I have never had this problem before.

While I was driving home afterwards I hit a small bump and the lights turned off and never came back on, I had to drive home with just fogs.

But then this morning I drove my car with the Hid's on and they seemed to be fine?

Any Ideas?

Thanks,

Loose wires? Check all the hookups.....my angel eyes were flickering too esp. when driving on speedbumps. Problem was that I didnt attach the negative wires from the ballast to the metal screw properly, kinda just hooked on it. Now its screwed onto the bolt.

Sounds like a loose connection somewhere. If you are adept at soldering, I'd recommend you solder all the connections.

I'm not very good with soldering so don't want to do that, my ballast seem pretty secure though, I think it's more on the relay but I don't know.
And I don't want to drive home again with just fogs, lol.

check the connections to the relay.
check the fuse in the relay as well.

Yeah sounds like a loose connection to me.... if you want it soldered I don't mind helping you with that... really good at it.... or go grab some new spade connectors and re-do your connections... I feel so bad for you dude.. soooo many issues with your HID's ... like someone cut this poor guy a break!!

Checked all that, everything seems to be perfect cause really I've never really touched those parts till last night. It's all tied up nicely , in regards to the soldering Which parts are we exactly talking about?

Maybee I should just upgrade my kit and use some Hella ballast instead. The one I have rite now sucks.

it doesn't seem like a ballast issue though; as you yourself said.
do you get a different relay if you get those ballasts?

Check your grounds!

I beleive my current ground is either the stock H7 wire or the turn signal one, maybee that's the problem. I will check that.

Are you grounding to the body of your car from the relay?? it sounds like there is a loose connection or a bad connection somewhere... you might want to look over all of it just to be sure.... a loose ground could most definitely be the issue... maybe get them looked at when your getting your subs looked at... most of the sponsor shops do HID's as well..... Buddy I feel your pain... it seems you have nothing but problems!!!

Okay, so after work I went and checked out all the wiring, grounds seem to be fine. I found that the culprit was the actual wire connection from ballast to HID. It needed some slack kinda like the Maf sensor when you have an intake.

So it works now, thanks all. =)

Good to hear the problem was resolved keep us up to date if anything changes.

I had a similar issue a few months ago where both sides would go out when driving over bumps. Found out it was a loose wire connection with my indy fogs.
