What is that thing? its behind the front bumper right at the middle...

Anyways,
I've runned into a problem installing the hid kit....everything works, bulbs and ballasts, but when I turn on the fogs, only the right one works the left one on the drivers side doesnt work, nothing wrong with the connection/wires/ballast/bulbs, I switched back to the regular halogen bulb and that works....any ideas? Tried switching ballast and bulbs, same problem on the drivers side...right side is fine just the left. Any solutions? Thanks! The right one is bright and im loving it so far....just wish the left one was working too....

Hey Jon,

That thing is the ambient temperature sensor.

Which kit did you get?

Did you try flipping the polarity? If there is power, the thing should light up.

You must have the worst luck with lights...first the half angel eyes that flickers now the half hid fogs.

What was the problem? Polarity?

BTW...I'm jealous!

The drivers side wasn't producing enough power for the ballast from the stock connectors....sorry if it doesnt make any sense since im a noob at this lol. Yearoftherat & Mcguyver figured out the problem. :D

That is definitely a weird problem. If it can run a 55W halogen bulb, why can't it run a 35W xenon?

I think that by getting the power else where, you just worked around the issue. :)

But hey, it works now.

What was the work around? Did you end up using a relay/harness or no?

I think that if the '07s had a cap around the bulbs like the 04-06s do I would bet they wouldn't look as bright. I want to see these in person. lol.

Yeah I agree if the 04-06s didn't have that cap i the fog, they would be very bright. Believe me, these are bright on Jon's car.

Which cap are you guys talking about? I have a 05, and my bulb just sticks right out.

And the fogs look bloody bright. Take some pics with just the fogs on.

The 04-06 fogs have a little "button" style cover that covers the tip of the bulb where as the 07+ has a ring around the bulb and does not cover the tip. Personally I think that this causes the '07s to have more of a glare.

Hmm...maybe this is on the 04-06 hatches only? Here is what it is on my 05 GS.

Oh...it may be because I got my fogs off ebay. Oh well...

You just answered your own question....

So should we remove the ring for 07? It doesn't light up very well. The bulb itself has been tip covered anyway.

Even if you could...definitely not. The fogs aren't meant to be driving lights and with that diffuser type thing removed you will have so much glare it will be pointless. Since we can't change the operating angle of the bulbs you will mostlikely end up blinding every driver that you come into contact with on the road if it is removed. I don't think the '07s are designed entirely well but they are designed like that for a reason so I would leave it as is. Upgrade your low-beams to an HID setup over anything else. With HID fos you will gain light output but you will also gain a lot of unwanted glare. If anyone goes this route you will just have to be cautious/courteous as to when to have them on at night.
