I agree with just about all the comments above with the contrast, standing out more. Though the cover page does look better in white, the black one seems gloomy. If the thumbnails were bigger I think the white would be nice. Maybe you should try using more of the screen, about an extra inch on each side and proportioned vertically.

As most have said (62%) - black. Pictures on a monitor 'pop' more as someone else put it.

It may be my monitor but it seems that the pictures are not as sharp as they could be (IMHO) - especially the one with the girl in front of the vehicle. Granted sharpness does have a large subjective component to it.

sorry about being OT but, what colour a lcd display, displays makes no difference on how much power it consumes. this is because the backlight is always on across the whole screen and the liquid crystal is simply switched to mask each pixel with whatever colour or shade is needed. and the power to switch an lcd is almost trivial, think of your digi watch or a calculator.

i voted for white.

IMO - black is all too common these days as a background colour these days and seems almost over used. as nice and sleek as black looks (similarly to a black car) i still prefer the white. white has a certain class, professionalism and cleanlieness to its look (sort of like a white car). as long as you can manage your white space properly, which it looks like you are, it doesnt make the page look too bright and obtrusive or empty.

for the thumbs yes but when viewing pics the background is masked. i would have to suggest that the masking when viewing pics on the white page should be black as well and not a shade of grey. otherwise i just like the clean look of the white cause trhe page has a nice balanced layout.

Try a thin white border on the pics against the black background if you want them to stand out even more. I think it could work.

Go with the white, the thumbnails seem to fade into the black backgorund and appear smaller. Also, If you do a lot of weddings the white will have the bride-zilla's eating out of the palm of your hand.
