Someone told me today that the Mazda 3 shift rod thread is a bit weird and if you buy a universal fit shift knob, it may not fit properly and even if it fits, it'll turn very easily.

Anyone had trouble with this?

I have a Momo shift knob and using the included spacers, it fits fine, with no turning at all.

I find the universal knobs work OK, but over time they get looser. Its usually just a plastic cap with three set screws tightening into it. The absolute best is one that threads on. I have the TWM jobbie, and its very nice. Not sure who else makes a threaded design.

Yeah, I was going to get a MOMO knob from the shop next to Selective Sound. But not sure how well it fits....

Yes I know you said that. I was just describing my thought process at the time when I was there. :)

i have installed 2 RAZO knobs on my MS6,
they were both universal....no problem at all...
they are nylon inserts, i've used the insert that is
specifically fit Mazda's thread~ it threads on its own when
first install...
