I'm doing my install for my HID fogs, I'm just wondering if I have to bother with doing the tap in to the signal and hook up the signal spade from the wiring harness or is this meant for just the lows? Any input would be great.

You don't need to tap into anything other than the stock wires for the fog lights.

HIDs are probably the easiest mod you can do. Just connect up the positive and negative of the ballasts to the stock fog light wiring.

depends on the 06 or the 07 models you may have to use a relay for the fogs. I have seen only 1 case in an 07 where the ballasts were not getting enough power on the one side so we needed to hook up a relay.

Thanks for the feedback, sorry if I didn't mention it but mine is an '04 so I am using the relay harness that Devin supplied, but I'm just wondering if it would be necessary to use the signal tap in? So far I have the red wire with the ring connector going to the battery, the black wire with the ring connector going to the hood pop, the black ground with the spade connector plugging into the existing fog harness and the blue cable (signal tap) just floating, is that correct?

The blue is the signal wire to turn on the lights is it not? I forget already and I just did mine on Sat. That would have to be connected to the (+) on your stock fogs.

just try to leave out the relay first dont do all that extra wiring if you dont have to. There are enough people on here that have 04's and 05's with hid fogs not running a relay

So what you are saying is that I can simply plug the ballast into the existing fog harness and it should be just fine?

yes that is correct but if 1 side does not come on then yu will need a relay but sdeing how this car is an 04 you should have no problem at all

Thanks for the help McGuyver, I'll give that a try, if it's a "plug & play" install, that'll be great. I shouldn't have to worry about shorting anything out just plugging into the existing fog harness will I? I'm just concerned that the ballasts will be drawing too much power or something.

I plugged mine straight to the fog light plug and taped it up. Had no problems at all in my 05'.

Alright, will definitley try this out, thanks guys, but in the event that I want to use the harness, is the blue spade just extra?

If you use the harness the blue plugs into the (+) of the stock fogs.

the hids use less power then the stock bulbs. The only second where they pull their peak energy is when it ignites and fires on the bulb. But tht jolt of power does not harm anything havent seen anyproblems so far.
To be more precise the blue wire is the trigger wire and cwp_sedan is correct positive of the fog wiring if you want to hook it up

Come to Thursday's AA meet if you have any problems. I'm sure we'll be able to clear it up there.
