Starting The Mazda 3

hey guys my friends grandpa has a peace of land way out in the boons and he has a strip of pavement in the middle of a feild and lets up race a bit on it. When i first got my mazda my friend could start his 1993 ford escort faster than my mazda (not much fast but his nose was about a 2 feet infront of mine after 1st gear i pretty much killed him), and this mazda is the first stick car i have ever driven. So nowe that i know how to drive manual wat RPM's should i keep my engine before i release the clutch to get the best acceleration?

PS the reason why im asking is because he always claims "ohh i can start my car faster blah blah blah" and he thinks his car can tune mine up to 100 km/h. And both cars are stock...

sounds to me like you just need more practice.. ther is no magical number.. you have to get a feel for the clutch and your engine and release at the right time

also.. is his car Manual or Auto?

The 3 is probably alot heavier then his Escort too... you would take him in the long run

if you are racing..... to take off bring your rev's up (3000 should be good) before you even let the clutch out, keep your revs here and just drop your clutch when you go, to shift into second you can have your revs wherever you want.... the higher the better..... or when you get really good at slamming into 2nd quickly, you can powershift by not even letting off the gas and just slam it into 2nd...... i wouldn't do this very often as it is really hard on your clutch, but you will be able to destroy his escort

just practice man and you'll get the hang of it..... your car should be able to take his right off the line no problem

ps. if you do it right you should be able to squeal the tires pretty good going into 2nd
