Help ! I was taking out my HID bulbs after testing them out cause i found out one of my ballast died so i have to get it replaced.
The bulb touched some plastic by accident....... and because it was so hot the plastic melted onto the bulb.
now the bulb still works but the colour dimmed and it's not as bright as before....
did i screw the bulb up or is there still a way i can clean the bulb ? could i use some alcohol based product to wipe it off ?
help me plz!! I don't really wanna get new bulbs!

Try using alcohol to wipe it off....

I would second the alcohol but if it melted to the glass of the bulb you are pretty much screwed. You might be able to scrape it off with a razor blade but I don't know.

Razor blade will scratch the bulb itself and might impact on the lighting output.

I would be more worried about something "exploding". Remember how hot it was? If grease from your finger can cause it to bubble and break then a scratch is probably even worse.

hook it up to the ballast and run it outside...when it gets as hot as before (with the plastic all gooey) shut em down and hit it with some 99% rubbing alcohol.... if that doesnt work then ure outa luck

If you're interested, I can sell you an extra 6000K bulb that one of the sponsors replaced for me.

I think the bulb is pretty much gone, as no matter how hard you try there will always be some plastic residue on it.
HID bulbs are not that expensive anymore .. umm, i sold an extra pair I had for around $75. So you looking around that price for a full replacement.

well anyways i'm gonna try to bring my bulbs back to my coworker he sold it to me for warranty........ i'm not gonna tell him the plastics situation cause i cleaned it up and it looks new.....
