Any opinions in putting in HID for the hight beams and have them run all day when driving like the mercedes, bmws, and caddilacs???

Or is it a waste of money, and the bulbs will burn out fast>

Anyone have HIDS as they daytime running lights?

you could just put them in as per normal and turn them on when you feel like it

u mean i can put them in in the high beams (9005's), and turn them on when i want to??? How do i do that? be the hight beam/day time lights come on all the time and only disengage when the parking brake is up or the low beams are on.......

no just put them in the low beams and you can turn on your hids when you want with a drl... not a wiring expert though so i'll shut up before i miss direct you and let the pros chime in

Yeah...just use them as your low-beam and fogs if you want. It's a waste to use them as highbeams.

Running your HID high beams at full output all of the time can get you a ticket (section 168 of the Highway Traffic Act). You'll notice that cars that have the high beams as their DRL in fact are running them at a reduced intensity/rate.

Are you sure some BMWs, Mercedes, Cadillacs use HIDs as DRL? I know some use HIDs has high-beams (bi-xenon) but didn't know they use them has DRLs.

HID high beams would make flash-to-pass not as effective and shorten life of HIDs.

I've seen a few benz with drl hid's. I thought it was strange. It was the suv type/ wagon one that I saw downtown oakville.

^^ just remember that even though they're running HIDs as DRLs, they are running them at the full proper voltage. Cars that use halogen bulbs stock for DRLs use them at a reduced voltage and therefore putting an HID bulb in there (for example, in the 2007 high-beam lights) would cause the HID bulb to flicker during DRL useage.

My tap in source for my hids are using the Highbeam harness.. Not using highbeam bulbs as some thought I did. So if i drive mid day, im running fogs and corners, but when it gets dark, I flip the trigger and my HIDs go on. Although there is no definite answer to disable the cut off power of the fogs, when my HIDs turn on, I'm happy with them.

Are you pointing at me? I already knew that and it has nothing to do with the essence of my post.
