Great guy to deal with. Dan did my subs/amp installs, perfect clean job...he even did a second checkup on the install which I thought was great of him. Also he did my independent fog mod, as usual, a successful clean install. This is the guy to go! Highly recommended! :)

edited:

I forgot, he also installed my air horns and helped with the HID fog installation.

Plus the prices are super good!

Dan is the man.

Did the new DRL mod on my car and was very accommodating to my busy schedule.

Also, he was receptive to my requests. I'm pretty picky about how things are installed.

A fellow Scarberian! I'll PM you as to what I would like to have done.

BTW, about the seat skins, how do they look? WOuld you possibly have pics? I am looking to get this done, but was unsure about how they would look compared to regular leather seats.

Excellent Pics Mcguyver 3!!!

How is the quality? You are saying they are identical to the leather seats from the Mazda floor? Certainly looks it!

Would it effect the airbag deployment? Or void the warranty? Just wondering...

The only problem i can see a 2007 owner having is if they have the airbags inside the seat i am unsure if they make leather kits to accomodate this feature yet. Like i said i would suggest you talk to
bestleatherkits
on ebay and message him to see. Yes they are very similar tofactory leather just my kit is al real leather what mazda does is use real leather on the sittng portion and leatherette(fake stuff) on the edges

Dan installed a Pioneer NAV system in my car this week and he did a fantastic job. It's clean, it's fast and more importantly, it's done properly.

After installing a short shifter own my own, I decided it would be best to let someone with more hands-on experience install my next mods.

Over the last two months Dan installed for me the Progress Sway Bar, Prolumen H7 and H11 kits and his indy fog mod. He's a friendly guy who knows his stuff. If he doesn't, he'll figure it out soon enough.

The installs are clean and well executed. Nothing has fallen out, broken or exploded. :chuckle

I recommend he be considered to help install your mods.

While getting my aftermarket alarm installed, Jeff at Audio Heaven metioned getting my HIDs rewired so they don't blink when arming the system. It would have greatly shortened the lifespan of the HID ballasts.

Dan rewired up my HIDs so they wouldn't flash when I armed my aftermarket alarm. He did it outside in the cold at a meet with no fuss. Now only my parking lights flash and I have full stock lighting controls with the independent fogs.

Awesome guy.

Hi Dan,
How much for the install of the leather kit? Do you also include the kit in your price?

The leather skins are exact replacements for the cloth so they look like factory leather seats. You can see my car i you would like. I would be more then happy to meet up with you and show you myleather kit. Another person i installed a kit for was pimpin 29y

Judging from the amount of positive feedback Dan has received in the past on this forum, I decided to give him a shout to have an HID kit installed on my car (future-wife's car actually). In a word....AWESOME! Dan's the Man! He even agreed to do the install at 9 o' clock on a Saturday morning. That's service I tell you.

I had him do a DRL bypass on the car as well (I would've disabled them altogether but it's the wife's car so I kinda had to). Ran into a minor glitch with the bypass but he "McGuyver'ed" it successfully. I'm planning on having a few other modifications done to the car so I'll be coming back, without a doubt.

Book your appointment with confidence. You'll be happy with his work.

Thanks again Dan.

-rewired my angel eyes so they are now controlled by a button inside the car

Client: myself
Product: XenonDepot 5000k HID kit + McGuyver's HB DRL mod
Installer: Dan aka. McGuyver

Scheduling
I got my HID kit installed on Sunday. I called Dan Saturday evening and he had agreed to meet the next morning...not bad for short notice...especially after just having a root canal done! I got there right on time and he refused the offer for a morning coffee.

Installation
Anyway, he wasted no time getting to it. He examined the components of my kit and realized that it comes with 2 relays. He wasn't familiar with them so he set out to make his own. I'll admit I was a little worried about not using the supplied equipment, but figured hey, his nickname's McGuyver for a reason. Plus, if he's more confident in his own work, who am I to argue.

Challenges
Another hitch with my kit was the bulb spacers....there weren't any! McGuyver saves the day again by using cylindrical foam pieces instead. Hopefully they don't melt/burn! The wiring job he did was nice and clean, plenty of electrical tape used to keep things together. The ballasts were tucked away neatly with the help of zip ties.

Testing
Test #1 failed with the passenger side light out. So he cut up all the tape and found the faulty wire. Test #2 worked. Next he wired the DRL mod. Test #3 didn't work as planned as the light switch wasn't functioning to stock spec. I spotted the culprit ground wire dangling behind the battery and voila... Test #4 success. He had to take the bumper off to fix a few wiring details and in the process, he removed my headlight housing to empty out the bugs which had decided to die in there! That was a big bonus for me as the sight of those bugs inside just annoyed me. :complain

Conclusion
The whole process took a bit longer than usual I'm sure because my car was stubborn, he had to make his own relays, take off the bumper and he kept misplacing his tools lol (honestly Dan, don't skip breakfast!!). :chuckle His highbeam DRL is the sheezy...I'm surprised not a lot of ppl have opted to go this way since the light switch functions like stock. Speedstar had offered me $70 to install the kit, but I decided to go with Dan since he's probably one of the few who know how to do the HB DRL properly!

All in all, I am pleased with his service! He's a real easy guy to deal with and will talk with you during the install. He'll even teach you IF you're willing to learn. :)

Suggestion Box
You might wanna have a spare stool/chair around for those who can't stand for extended periods. I didn't mind since my line of work has me on my feet the whole day. Also, offer to aim the headlights afterwards. In my case, I feel that they are aimed a bit low. Dan, are you familiar with how to aim them? I might need to pass by real quick if you do since I personally don't have the proper tools. Thanks for helping me out!

McGuyver_3

WOW thank you for the detailed break down of my service. I am aware of how to aim them and would be glad to help you out. Give me a shout and we will make a quick adjustment.

Went back to Dan to address the headlight aiming issue I was having. Since the HID kit I have didn't include spacers, he had to use some foam sleeving previously. Well, that sorta melted over time and the bulbs weren't sitting properly. So this time, he had made these spacers out of the OEM halogen bulb "plugs" (for lack of a better term). I am the prototype for this mod lol, but it works! I dunno what he did, but my lights shine further now and the cutoff is more pronounced. As a bonus, he also installed my Eurolite yellows in my high beams and fog lights.

Much thanks Dan!! I really appreciate your help!

Met with Dan on Saturday morning to install my fogs, re-wire my indy fog light mod and to install my pedals. Dan's the man when its come to installing parts, he takes his time and does a really clean job when installing. This is the 2nd time I've dealt with Dan and I don't think it will be the last. Dan installed my HID headlights. Great work on the install. All the wires are perfectly hidden and no mess lying around. He was quick and knows what he is doing. Highly recommended. Great guy!

He did the antiflicker mod (Xenons as DRLs) and also admitted that he has not done that install before but still understood how to do it!

Im definitely going back to him in the future should I need to get something installed.

Thanks Dan for the service. *thumbs up*

Well, this feedback is well overdue, but I've been busy of late and trying to play catch up with work, X-mas shopping and posting...

I had Dan come to the house over a month ago, to help me install some Hella Horns on both my MS3 and the wife's MZ3 hatch. I really suck with running wiring, so figured I'd solicit the help of McGuyver. :)

For all those who have never met Dan, let me assure you that he is a pleasure to work with, patient and very respectful of what his customers want. I am pretty anal about my cars, particularly the MS3 and Dan took the time to ensure the installs were done to my complete and total satisfaction. Much appreciated Dan.

Also, Truth be told, I had a really good time playing around with the car with him and installing these Hella's. He is very personable and easy to work with.
Note that the install of the Hella's on the MS3 is a bit of a beyotch because there isn't really a good place to mount them. In the end, with a little bit of improvisation, we managed to mount them perfectly.

The main delay in posting this feedback was that I wanted to get some pics done of the install to post here. The pics aren't great and the cars were pretty dirty/salty in the post install pics, but they'll have to do.

Thanks again Dan and no issues to date with the horns at all. They're freaking awesome and the wife wanted me to let you know that she loves them also and has put them to good use on numerous occasions! Sorry this has taken me so long to post up...

Here are the pics.

Where can I start my good friend!!! Great person to deal with, and very patient.

Installs / conversions.

JBL Speakers
HID Indy fog mod, and rewiring lighting to look factory again
Steering wheel swap out to leather
GS seat conversion to GT
and HID fogs.
and tips in doing minor installs (like swapping tail lights haha, GS bumper to GT bumper)

Again I appreciate all the installs and the talking sh!t and jokes during the installs.
Although your Mazda3 GS-T has been written off, I will keep it alive by the HID fogs I have in the car now, and the GT bumper conversion on a GS.

Good times, and of course I will come back to you for more installs.

Dan came over to install Hella's and the ugly as heck Bug deflector thing (I had to install it, it was either that or pay $$$ for a complete hood repainting due to rock chips) because I am to lazy to do it myself (the Bug deflector) and would probably mess something as simple as that up.

Dan installed everything great - the horn is LOUD - overall a great job done.

Second time having Dan do an install, this time it was smoked reflectors. I had him wire the side reflectors with the turn signal and the rear with the break.

How he does it in cold weather, I don't know... but stellar work. I am a very happy customer :)

Went up to Dan's place this morning and had him install a few parts including 6K hid bulbs, TRS clear lenses, LED door sills, and Eurolight high beams. As always he did a great job on the installation.

Once again thanks for the great service.

Finally got my HID's installed yesterday at Dan's.
I've been using a loaner kit when my lights decided to almost start an electrical fire then just burn out including the fogs. Really helped me out in a pickle. Not to mention showed extreme patience considering I had the kit for like 4 months. LOL

Always professional, and I trust he knows what he's doing. Also fixed the haze in my drivers side headlight and removed the lamin-x yellow fog overlay I had since they burned to a nasty brown colour.... Turns out the headlight haze was just some powder/dust. He opened up the headlight gave it a good clean and now they're spotless again!! VERY HAPPY!!

Dan is the go to guy! :)

Had my 8000K's installed a couple of months back, and he did an awesome job...I'm not sure he even opened his eyes while installing them!! I had a small problem with the fuse, called him up and was in the garage in no time for a quick repair. I popped the hood, said hello and he said that he was done. Don't trust your electrical to anyone else but Dan the Man!

Thanks!

One of the better guys on these forums, Dan installed, balanced my new MS6 Rims on Fuzions ZRi's yesterday. Installed them in the parking lot of tim hortons LOL at Martin Grove & HWY7. He did it effortlessly.. or at least it looked like it. Big thanks for his work and quality of work. His professionalism and his friendliness. He was paid, of course as he always should be for his work.

Got some pics of the work, but not revealing the rims just yet! ;)

He just put dynamat on my 2010 mazda 3, he did the whole floor and then fitted acoustic foam on the floor. he knows mazda 3 's inside out, he removed all the panels carpets and seats.this is one job i could not do by myself. It was well worth it in my opinion

Thanks Dan for installing my backup camera and running the wires. Although the camera didn't initially work as advertised (through no fault of Dan), he did a nice, clean job and I learned a lot from him. Terrific guy to deal with and with very, very reasonable prices. I would not hesitate to go to him again.

I am sad to say that im not LOL...but i can do it by looking at the instruction or searching How-to and learn if i have the time but i dont....so it is best to make someone professional to do it

Dan is definitely the man. He did great job on my high beam DRL a while back and last week I tried to mess around with his work to make the DRL dimmer. Instead I screwed up royally, DRL and high beams no longer working. He was able to squeeze me in today and fixed the problem quickly. thanks again Dan.

Just had Dan install a JBR Rear Motor Mount this afternoon. It was done quite quickly and so far so good. He also installed my short shifter many years ago. The best part is that he's somewhat out east and can get it done on weekends or off-work hours which is sometimes difficult for other shops/people.

When and if I decide to pick up a Rear Sway Bar, I'll be seeing Dan for the install. (I'm not a real DIY kinda person or really mechanically apt let's just say.)

I tried doing the install myself but messed something up. So instead went to Dan and he did an amazing job. Wires are hidden, ballasts are placed in a safe and secure manner. Great job overall. Definitely coming back cuz i have couple more things that needed to be done like halos, fogs etc...

Thanks Dan.

Dan did a great job on my HIDs. All wires are neatly tucked away and ballast hidden and secure.
Easy person to chat with and also explains what he is doing and why.

Had Dan install my TRS clear lenses two weeks ago. Very friendly individual ... this is my second time having him work on my car.

He was very flexible with the time and had excellent communication. Got a little bonus from him since I was having problems with my HID's, he swapped them out with bulbs of his own at no extra charge. Thanks a bunch Dan!

Highly recommended
