As all you Mazda owners know, when we use the "flash to pass" highbeam on our cars, the low beams are also hardwired to come o. This is fine for years with halogen low-beams but is a no-no for the '07s with stock HIDs. I think it was an oversight on Mazda's part.
Thanks to a member of Mazda3Forums, we now have a simple modification which will resolve this.
I did this modification last night and it worked flawlessly. After 6 months of having my car, I am finally able to use the "flash to pass". Yippie. :bana2

Do you have HID's? I'm just curious, because we have the same model/year, and was wondering if I need to be doing this. I've never "flashed" anybody during the day, so I don't know if the HID's (prolumen w/ relay) come on.

Yes I have HIDs. You need to do this because if you use flash-to-pass you will flash on and off the HIDs, which is bad for them. I use it every once in a while.

How do you have your HID's setup? After work, I pulled the light stock to turn on the high beams and my HID's never came on. I have the LB on Auto. I'm using the relay provided by Devin, and the trigger is coming from the wire on the front turn signal light.

Ah yeah I forgot that part.
I have them set up per McGuyver's new DRL mod, which simulates the stock setup, but with the fogs or highbeams as the DRLs.
I guess you don't need this mod if you are powering from the parking light.

Ah Ok, I was getting a little confused...wondering why your car was doing something that mine wasn't.

Ya, this would not be required if you have aftermarket HIDs and have the relay connected to the turn signal.
This is because the turn signal does not activate with "flash-to-pass".
