well according to mazda.ca the speed 3 is 1432kg which is 3150lbs. The STI's are 113 lbs heavier then the speed 3 but 44hp and 31lb-ft torque more and with AWD. Without tuning this is already a beast......But the down side is you're probably paying $20,000 more then the speed 3

That's why ppl are making such a big fuss... if it was 35k with the AWD system then yea you can say sweet car.....but for ~50k mehhh

Hopefully the new EVO comes with a more down to earth price tag.

if the STI pricing in the USA doesn't change much from the 2007 model, it'll be a shade less than 35k US$ (http://www.cars101.com/subaru/impreza/wrxsti2007.html)

The only thing that bothers me is the front of the car. I think it's going to be one of those things that is going to have to grow on me. The rest of the car is nice and bulky to make it seem more aggressive.

I like it, looks good. Looks like a cross between a swollen Evo and a MS3.

Subaru isn't honouring American warranties in Canada, and is supposedly imposing stiff penalties to dealerships which sell vehicles to non US residents

They can take their cars and shove em up their ass. Our dollar is equal, OR stronger.

according to this guy (http://www.cars101.com/canada.html), it's just a rumour (Joe Spitz works for a Subbie dealership in seattle and, apparently, has sold many subbie's to canadians....enough to warrant his own page on how to do it! :chuckle)

i believe ours is stonger now.
but just by a tad.
but for some reason, everything is still cheaper in the states. what gives??
ie, xbox 360 is $350 down there, and $400 here.

Dear Subaru Dealer
Re: change of warranty reimbursement for Canadian citizens purchasing a Subaru
Subaru of America (SoA) has formalized a reciprocal warranty agreement with Subaru Canada Inc (SCI). There are important elements to this agreement which have changed that will impact the procedure for certain warranty claim reimbursements.

Procedure Change
If a Canadian citizen purchases a Subaru vehicle in the US with the intention of immediately registering the vehicle in Canada, they must be notified by the selling dealer that the Subaru Limited warranty specifically states, "Any and all repairs must be performed by an authorized Subaru Dealer in the United States." Therefore, Canadian residents who purchase a Subaru in the US, then registers the vehicle in Canada, will have 2 viable options for obtaining warranty repairs.

1. return the car to the US for all warranty repairs at an authorized Subaru dealer at no charge, or

2. Have the car repaired at an authorized Canadian Subaru dealer, pay for the repairs, then submit a copy of the repair order marked "Paid" for reimbursement to SoA through the CDS (customer dealer services), address Subaru of America, Inc, Subaru Plaza, PO Box 6000, Cherry Hill, New Jersey, 08034-6000, USA, phone 800 SUBARU3.

In the interest of full disclosure to the Canadian purchaser, please ensure that all sales personnel and aware of this warranty limitation and the requirement to notify the customer.

Procedures which did not change.
Subaru owners with a permanent US residence (address) who are owners visiting Canada or Canadian owners visiting the US will mutually be able to obtain warrantable repair in the country they are visiting under the terms of the respective warranty. This element is unchanged from previous agreements and has been in practice by both SoA and SCI for some time.

It is important to note that a Canadian citizen repatriating to Canada after purchasing a Subaru in the US and registering it at a US address may obtain warranty repairs at an authorized Subaru dealer in the US or Canada without having to pay for the repairs first. This also holds true for a US citizen relocating to Canada after having registered their Subaru in the US.
SoA has agreed to perform warranty repairs on all Canadian Subaru vehicles under terms of the Canadian warranty regardless of the customer's residency without requesting payment directly from the customer.

so, i stand corrected; they will honour your warranty in Canada, BUT you have to pay for it first and send in the receipt for a reimbursement.

given that this is a new redesign of the STI, it's possible they'll just make the prices match..but as has been pointed out..i have been wrong before :)

I'm no economist but I would think its either because we have higher import taxes or its just market size or both, I believe the U.S market is ten times our size, hense the lower prices....but i could be wrong.

Anyways has for the Subaru I like it, its got a nice beefy shape, looks a little mean and killer power...the interior doesn't look bad either but have to see it in person.

I've never minded the back on the new Impreza Wagons, the front BOTHERED me.

The WRX STI's front end is great though.

Not bad at all, I like.

That silver STi looks great. The only thing I dislike is the rear lights.

I'm still undecided whether or not I like the new STi's (or Impreza's in general), although it is growing on me.

However... I LOVE the rims on that black STi in the first post. Looks like they plucked them right off of a 350Z, and added gunmetal. They would look SICK on a white, red or yellow STi. If they came in gold, they would look good on White, black or Blue

Damn you guys like it?
I think the evo X kills it in terms of appearance
although the recaro's in the evo are pretty ugly,
like darthvaders

I dunno why people have said the price tag is too high! You have to remember this AWD system is SECOND TO NONE in the WRC Circuit! I have been a DIE HARD STi fan since the day it hit the canadian (maybe even american) market. With slightly more power than the Evo X, it's gonna be hard to choose.

All this being said, after watching COUNTLESS tuning shows, my vote is now leaning towards the Evo X! Why?? Biggest reasons are: ease of modding, exterior styling (like CF, the STi might grow on me too) and price.
