Whats up all...
Just installed my HID's (thx McGuyver) and I noticed that when im driving it seems like the bulbs are loose. Almost like a "flickering" when you go over any bumps...
Anyone else notice this?
Can this be fixed?
Thx for helping!

Nope...that's how projectors are unfortunately. Get used to it. Mine do the exact same thing.

mine doesn't do that...
I've 2006 mazda 3.
I did the install myself.
ur bulb might be loose... or ur bulb might be defective in terms of size.

Sorry, i might the spacers.
I used the spacers from the stock bulb.
You mean the black plastic part that goes at the end of the bulb right? (the spacers). Its been a while, i forgot my terminology.
another possiblity is that ur bulb isnt sitting right.
Mine flickers over bumps too. You'll get used to it in a few months :)

If they shake on a bump, that can't be good for the bulb.
Make a spacer to make it tighter, it really shouldn't shake

I did the aftermarket install on the hid's and found that the spacers which came with the kit were okay but still didn't hold the bulb in tight enough, so I made some of my own spacers which hold them in tightly... they realyl shouldnt shake if they do.. one good bump and you may ruin the bulb itself.... you might want to fix that before you do damage to your newly acquired mod..... I would have asked if you did the proper install but it was Mcguyver who did it... and we all know how dan's installs are *thumbs up*
curious.. what did you make a spacer out of?

truthfully lmao.. i used a grommet off another car... I did the install at a buddies house and we were looking in his "leftover" bin for something and found two little grommets which we cut out and placed aroudn the bulb... it took a while but it worked :chuckle CAN YOU SAY GHETTO??? bottom line it worked :chuckle

no questions as to McGuyvers install! he did an awesome job!
i used the spacer that came with the hids...
im kinda getting used to it but still bothers me just as much! good to know others are doing the same thing...lol
thx for the input. much appreciated...
Its likely not the bulb causing the flicker it’s the Projectors in the Mazda 3's if you grab that back of the bulb and wiggle it you will see the projectors have a bit of play in them..

I have been doing alot of research on the internet and the forum about the HIDs as Im looking forward to add some new mods to my 3.....frankly speaking after reading these sort of flickering is sort of discouraging me....

The flickering that most people are talking about is when you go over a large bump the projector housing shakes and causes the light to shift slightly. It's only a little noticeable on large/multiple bumps. It's a very minimal side effect for such a great light output.

Are you sure you are talking about the same thing? If your actual bulb is flickering, then you have a problem.

Well since the accident I had to change the whole kit, so it stopped blinking or whatever. But it's not like that. I think it was a ballast problem. Barely noticeable, you have to look very close to see it.

Oh and yeah that was off topic lol btw I get the same thing over little bumps on high speed, it would blink in milliseconds

hmm I get the same thing as cwp_sedan, but it's only my passenger side and it 'bounces' within the housing. I don't get "blinking". Oh and it has to be a pretty significant bump as well.

If its large bumps and its not that noticable than its still okay....but if it was to happen every now and then then it would really get on my nerves :flaming ...But I guess one cannot get everything perfect.....having said that I would still want it to be stable and not flicker due to something being loose....as this would not happen even if we were to use the stock halogen lamps and projector housings...

if its only one side than that gives me a hint that something is defective....but i guess thats my take on that.....
but whatever the case HIDs rock!! :bana2
