Well, I finally got my new ride this weekend. I'm super happy with it. Already put 700 km on it.
Mazda 3 GT Sport, Manual, Lux Package, Carbon Grey.

I read this board for many weeks before buying the car to do as much research as possible. I'm super impress with the amount of info available here. Thanks to everyone for contributing.

Here's a quick list of things I found pretty cool about the car:
The huge glovebox.
The wicked headlights that tilt and that are hyper bright.
The ipod connector in the arm rest with available routing of the cables.

The list of things I was a bit disappointed about:
I didn't realise that my CD player wasn't MP3 compatible. I thought that would have come with the fully loaded car!
There's a humming noise when I plug in my ipod in the glove box (I think I need a ground loop maybe?)

The things I'll miss from my previous car: Subaru Legacy (it's for sale by the way): Subaru for sale (http://www.flickr.com/photos/76128337@N00/sets/72157601741700484/)
Heated side mirrors
All wheel drive
Trunk room

The things I'll enjoy that wasn't in my Subaru
Better gas mileage
More sporty ride

Well other then that, I'm from Barrie. I'm a mechanical engineer working in the automotive industry (design automation line)

Ok, that's probably too much talking for my first post. I'll leave you with a picture of my new ride

I was about to say.. mine has heated side mirrors? And trunk room? Your rear seats fold down and you can pack up to your roof?! What did you pack in your subaru that you can't in your 3? That privacy shelf in the 3 hatch rear comes off in a snap, and the seats fold down!

He had the Legacy wagon. It's far bigger than our 3's. It's comparable to the Mazda6.

The 3 is Impreza sized.

Welcome to the board, glad you're enjoying the new ride. I had a Legacy wagon as a loaner and it is way bigger than a 3 by far and +1 on the better gas milage and ride for the 3.

ya, the legacy is similar in size as the M6, but the one reason I didn't go with the 6, is it only comes with the V6 engine. Mileage isn't the best.

The reason I went with the luxury package, is mostly because of the leather. I spend lots of time at the beach (kiteboarding) and I always end up with wet stuff everywhere. The leather is way more resistant and easier to clean.

I also need lots of room to keep my sport gear in the trunk at all time. A hatchback was a must.

Awesome about the heated side mirrors. I was looking for a button to turn them on, but couldn't find one so I assumed it didn't have it.

Mods will come a bit later. For now I need to spend my money on a set of winter tires (probably Gislaved), a roof rack (will try to get a Yakima rack to mount in the factory rack mount), rust protection and maybe a tint if there's money left.

Oh right. Yeah I didn't realize he had the wagon, that explains a bit. :)

What's the price difference between the two cars? On the website the difference is about $5000.00 based on MSRP. Is the difference closer at the dealership?
