Well I just finished the stair climb. As a smoker, it took me 21:40.

Anyone else participate this year? If you've done it in previous years, how long did it take you?

now was that one step at a time, or did you take double steps?

22:39 (in 2006)

But to my defence I went on short notice so I didn't train/prepare. :-)

Double steps? That's hard. I think the key is single steps at consistent pace.

Did you notice as you approached the top the stairs and rails being wet (from sweat)?

wet rails and steps. yep.. heat rises.. makes it warmer as you go up. I didn't train either. double steps is hard.. yep.. single steps at consistent pace is best... other guys for work were finishing in the 16-17min mark. They're older than me by like 10-15yrs.. i'm 31.

So compare to that, what was the time for the 1st place?

145 flights of stairs, i think just over 1700 steps. As for first place, I don't know, I was one of the first ppl from work to go up (6:49am), third to finish.

I'll probably be living in the Toronto area next year by this time for sure. When does this take place? And how do you participate?

I did it today for the first time. 20min 53sec, which sucks because I was trying for a sub 20min time.

The best time was some guy who did it in 7min something secs.

I think the best strategy is double step it if you can... next year i'll train.

Some stats I read in Metro this morning.

There are 1,776 steps.

"The record belongs to Brendan Keenoy, who is 1989 completed the climb in seven minutes, 52 seconds."

The average to climb the CN tower is 30 minutes.

My company does this every year. It's usually in the fall. I'll keep you updated. For general public it's a collection of $100 worth of pledges, for teams it's $50 per member. I had posted a thread a couple weeks back about this.. but didn't catch much interest.

Maybe we'll have a mazda 3 club team, we can show them all how fast 3's go. (right mazdaspeed owners:chuckle:chuckle)

No, you cannot just go anytime. They setup the event for fund raising. Participation requires signing of waiver and paramedics at points of the climb (amongst other things) so they can't just have it open to public all the time or every weekend. And with regards to cost, KenYork already mentioned the usual minimum pledge requirement (although I thought it was more like $50).
