I tried to search the forums but couldn't find the answer.

I don't drive too much, i do about 15000kms a year or so.
Mazda recommends service at the 8/16/24k... intervals or interms of months, i think they are 4 month intervals, whatever comes first. If i follow the latter, and only do my service at the kms, will Mazda have just cause to not honor warranty?

Good question,

I would just do it every 4 months, why have the worry of the warranty being voided, just do it every 4 months so that you are sure you are covered, and enjoy your ride.

If you want to be 100% sure I would suggest to go to the dealership to confirm.

Every four months sounds about right if you're doing less than the 8k, caus they say which ever comes first. But I'd do the major servicing at the kilometer rating 24k, 48k.

I'm guessing that the manufacturer ask you to do the oil change every 4 months, even though you don't put on 8k on it , is because once oil gets contaminated in the engine it slowly becomes acidic. This is what i was told anyways. For myself, I would do the oil change at the recommended interval
( 4mths or 8k ) to be on the safe side. If you bought the extended warranty
then thats more reason to follow whats stated on the warranty book.

Yes. Oil degrades over time, so definitely do it at whichever interval comes first, whether it be time or mileage.

I do the same, by the month recomended by the dealer and not the KM's.

I have 25,000 and just did my 28,000 today.
