Ont hat page it shows the Japan model. So, you can assume it is not yet in the NA market.

The thing is.. the people who want one, can't afford one. And the people that can afford one, want something else....

Does anyone know if they are going to discontinue the 350z when this bad boy comes out ?

I couldn't put it any better.
It's going to be hard to justify spending so much on a Nissan, but you never you know !

most likely not... the gtr is going to be priced close to that of a corvette... maybe a little less... that being this will be closing in on the 90000-100,000 dollar mark....
the 350 is a good seller at below 50k....
this gtr is just a "icing on the cake" for super enthusiasts who have been wanting to see another skyline/gtr for years.. .i bet there will only be a 1000-2000 produced for north america... if not less

they're not on sale yet; they were revealed at TMS this week.
i think you'll see them for sale around 2Q 2008. some people have supposedly already put their names down on the waiting list at Nissan dealerships.

i doubt it that they will discontinue the 350z.
IIRC, a 400z is in the works. with either a bored out VQ35 or a v8 instead.

The GT-R is being sold to rival a Porsche 911 so expect pricing to be akin to that. I wouldn't be surprised to see a price tag starting in the 80s for it. Hell, I wouldn't even be surprised to see $90-100G for it if demand is going to be as high as it is now. It is their niche, "supercar" vehicle after all.
As far as the 350z goes, I've been reading a lot that the next gen will sport the 3.7L V6 engine (derived from the existing 3.5L) and will probably be called the 370z (how original and predictable lol). I can't see Nissan putting a V8 in the 350 when the GT-R doesn't even have it. I don't see them making the 350/370 faster yet more affordable than the GT-R.

Yeah no kidding when you get into WELL over 6 figures your looking at a 911 Turbo, or even into GT2 or GT3 territory! Now if your a ceo or some other exec with money.. .. your stop at porsche or other such high end manufacturers before pulling over at nissan to drive a car that was in your kids fast and the furious movie with neon lights all over it..
That being said.... yes the car is a performer and the specs look amaizing... I'd love to drive one... but someone else's because i wouldnt fork over for it with all the other attractive alternatives for the price range its in.

On the flip side, if you're some hotshot new investment banker just out of school and starting to make the big bucks, and have been adding ricer bits to your civic for the past 5 years while working your way through school, this might be EXACTLY what you're looking to spend your new found money on while living in your parents basement! :)

^^ Weasel you are too hilarious mang!
I agree that even though this is a "glorified" Nissan and probably one of the most sought-after super car(s) of its day, I can't see there being a very big market for it. I guess to each their own. If I had the money and my pick of any car in that price range, I would buy it! No questions asked! However, I am in the age bracket (I would say 25-35) that likes this car more than a Porsche

This is definitely a badass car, going up against a 911 Turbo and costing $25K less.

I'd take that 911 Turbo ANYYY day over a skyline.. lol..
And your example about some guy owning a civic for 5 years mod'n it in his parents basement and then sudenly has money for a GTR... not going to happen... be realistic.

Whoa, the base has the same engine and performance as the higher end trim. Am I reading it right?
whiteomega
11-17-2007, 09:30 PM
that's right..the higher end trim adds more luxury stuff to the GT-R, i think. i'm glad they didn't water down a cheaper version though; otherwise you'd see R35 GTS-Ts everywhere instead of GTRs...

I hope it comes with an automatic.
runs
It comes with:
• 6-speed Dual Clutch Transmission with three driver-selectable modes: Normal (for maximum smoothness and efficiency), Snow (for gentler starting and shifting on slippery surfaces), and R mode (for maximum performance with fastest shifts).
• Fully automatic shifting or full sequential manual control via gearshift or steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters.

Inside Line Review (http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Drives/FullTests/articleId=124017?tid=edmunds.il.home.photopanel..1 )
Its 3.3-second 0-60-mph run and 11.6 at 120.9 mph performance make the GT-R the quickest car we've ever tested.
