View Full Version : Anyone else NOT like Tim Horton's?

Am I the only one?

Their coffee sucks (Starbucks is better). Their donuts suck. Their bagels suck. Not to mention what they do traffic in some places causing big lineups in the street. Why do so many Canadians flock there? I suspect the brand attacts a lot of people.

No way! Tim's isn't the best coffee, however for the price that you pay it is good coffee. Starbucks is totally overpriced and totally over hyped. I do drink Starbucks every now and then but only their Carmel Macchiato's and that's only if there isn't a Tim's around. Their coffee is way too bitter and would prefer a Second Cup over a Starbucks. The traffic portion of your arguement has nothing to do with the company itself, as traffic studies should be carried out by the city before approvals for the placement of one of these are granted, so that needs to be taken up with the city. Starbucks is on a different level in terms of target market, you should be comparing Tim's to Coffee Time and Country Style and then see how it stacks up then...I can pretty much assure you that the consensus would be that Tim's ranks right up there. Just my two cents, everyone has their own opinion and their own preference.

I love the taste of their coffee and their breakfast sandwiches are awesome.

I rarely have bagels there so I don't really have an opinion on them.

For lunch or dinner though, their sandwiches are great! I've had plenty of their ham and swiss sandwiches, and they don't skimp on either!

As for Starbucks... every now and then I'll enjoy a Starbucks coffee, but as an every day drink I find that firstly, they're too expensive, and secondly, their coffee always seems to have a somewhat burnt taste to it. All well and good when I'm looking for an ultra-strong pick-me-up but not so good as an everyday morning drink.

I like Tim Hortons. I don't know why you think their donuts, bagels and coffee sucks but if SO many people are lining up each day, it can't all be that bad.

I am sure a lot of people think the Mazda3 sucks as well (warm A/C, bad gas mileage) and can't see why so many people would buy one.

Opinions are like arseholes, everyone has one.

Work really slow today man?

lmao.. are you blaming Tim Horton's for traffic congestion!?!? lol

Starbucks coffee is horrible, waaay to bitter

and the names for their sizes just sound too gay for me... a 'grande' please.. lol

Just bored at work today.

I guess by "sucks" I mean that there are alternatives that are better.

I'm not a big coffee drinker, so I'm not a terribly great authority on the subject. But I do know that I prefer the free coffee at work over theirs.

timmies coffee, doesn't really seem like coffee when ur drinking it, but for some reason it is nice!

if i go to starbux, i am gonna have some sort of fancy latte, feels more special that way!

Amen to that! Since taking the new job, I'm saving a fortune on coffee! We've got Timothy's coffee here brewed by the cup from one of those K-Cup machines.

When I was at UofT, I drank Starbucks and Second Cup, since there wasn't a Timmy's within a 1KM radius. Hard to believe eh? I think the University might have had some agreement with Starbucks. I spent literally 10 bux a day on coffee. And as a student, that's a lot of cash to be throwing away.

Starbucks coffee tastes burnt to me but the person behind the counter says is the roasting process (BS). Well at least Timmies is better that the swamp water Coffee Time sells.

West side CC is pretty good. G/f's brother in law owns the one on Jane and Langstaff. We should do a meet there, possibly free coffee haha

How can you NOT like Tim Horton's? I have one on the 2nd floor of my building and it is a blessing from the god's. There will always be something better, but can you get it as fast and cheap as Tim Horton's?

Don't say Starbucks is better cause it's free-trade and all that other junk.

Williams Coffee is actually pretty good, there just isn't enough Williams around, whereas there is a Tim Hortons on just about every corner

Tim Horton's is like the McDonald's of coffee places. Like you said, it's fast and cheap. But the quality sucks IMO.

Wild Weasel
10-30-2007, 11:33 AM
I think the quality is very good. No matter what Tim's you go to, it always tastes the same. With their measuring contraptions, you get the same coffee if you order a double-double here or anywhere else. That's quality. It's never watery or too strong or anything other than what it is.

sauga_kid
10-30-2007, 11:38 AM
Toche, in terms of quality and quality control. I've been drinking my cup of joe for a long time and through all the years and all the Tim's I've stopped by (including the states) I've only had one bad cup that I just couldn't stand and had to dump (sacrilege). Not to worry I've been absolved for doing so and will never do it again!

mogul_pro
10-30-2007, 11:54 AM
Do I think Timks makes good coffee.. heck no.
Is it easy to get anywhere I go.... yup... and thats the only reason I do go there.. nothing else happens to be around when I need one, and its cheao and fast and doesnt taste like toilet water.

10-30-2007, 12:01 PM
Not a fan of Tim's cofee. I'll drink it, but IMO it isn't anything special... From what I've seen a lot more "cofee lovers" are gonna be at Timothys, Starbucks, etc.

For me, I like starbucks.

I'm at tims alot though, generally because its a place where you could sit and chill with friends, and its cheap.

Especially that ice cap :P

I'm with the "NOT" group! Timmie's coffee is disgusting. Starbucks is too expensive and too fancy. Williams is very good for the price.
Has anyone else noticed how Tim's donuts have shrunk gradually over the past coupe of years while their prices have continually increased?

i used to drink sanka...when i didn't know better
i hate coffe now...plain and simple, hate teh smell, hate the taste...
with the reguards of tims....i drink tea...and there is now like a 3 cent diff between a large tea and a large coffee....3 cent diff for a cup of hot water...
i havn't had a timmies tea....in well...so long, for the fact that the prices are a little bit too high for what you get. i remember the 0.99cent any size tea way back when...

i jus stick to making my own earl greay now...
speaking of which...time to pop that kettle down!

it really sucks at my office we used to get free tea and coffee, the coffee tasted like crap so no complaints there, but the free tea thing is kind of annoying. So there are two options, a) pay 50 cents for that stupid little disk for the new machine or b) bring your own tea bags. Now I'm not complaining because they use red rose tea here adn I'm all about Tetley, my stash seems to go missing on the regular guess it doesnt help that I have an old british lady in the desk next to me

^^I've heard that stuff shrinks kidneys.

Timmie's is good. It's not the same to me like when I was growing up and I would go to Tim's with my dad - you could smoke in there and such... well I didn't at that age... you get the idea... memories...

Starbucks - not a fan - as most have said: overpriced and bitter. When I have gone (generally cause I need a coffee fix stat), I find it annoying that I have to define to them what a Medium cup of coffee is.

"Does it look like I have a MacBook, read books by 15th century authors no one has ever heard of and keep a journal of my hourly thoughts?".

I have fancy coffee when I'm on vacation like Bali, not when I'm in Kennedy Commons.
