While cleaning my 2006 Touring Edition I noticed there is a harness with 7 wires under the front seats but I have no motors or heaters to my knowledge. In the fuse box in the seat heater position is a 20 amp fuse. This makes me think that they build one seat and either put in the switches or do not but when I asked at the local dealer they said this is a big job to put in the heated seats. Admitting that they already exist would be just too open for a car company. I can't find a schematic on the web.

Anyone know if the hardware is all there and just the switches are needed?

I have no idea, but could it be the seatbelt sensor, airbag sensors?

That is what they said at the dealership howeever when I looked under the seat of another 3 with heated seat but not power seat the harness looked exactly the same.

it's entirely possible that the wiring harness for heated seats is there, and just needs the heating elements installed and plugged in, and the switch panel installed in the center console. i'm not guaranteeing it, but it's possible. i highly doubt the heating elements are already in place, hence the big job, as you were told.
