I bought scuff plates for my car a few months ago, and my friend helped me put them on, and they've stayed on since tonight. One of the front ones fell off, and i tried to stick it back on and was standing on it for a few minutes so it sticks, but it didn't really help.

So, what I did now, is take them all off, and put more double sided tape on them, and hopefully that will work. I'll put them on tomorrow morning.

Anything else anyone suggests? What is best I can wash the plastic with? Would rubbing alchohol work? Just wet it with alchohol and then dry it with paper towel and then put them on?

Anything would help! :D

Thanks!

I used exterior 3M tape to reinforce them when I first put them on over a year ago. They haven't budged. Use that stuff.

+1

3M tape holds up really well. Plus if you ever want to remove them you still can.

The Double Sided tape that came with my plates worked "ok", but it didn't stick in the centre, therefore it was curved, which looked retarded. They didn't hold well, so have now removed all of the tape on them, and i'm going to glue them in the morning...

I went to Home Depot and asked them whats best, and they recommended one glue, but they said "once its on, it aint coming off" - thats what i need!

But it you are happy with gluing it, go for it. :)

Well, the two front plates stick great, but I have been having a really hard time with the rear plates. I tried everything! Tape/Glue... Its starting to drive me crazy!

I think i'm gonna go out and get that tape you suggested. My friend uses the same one and it worked fine. I should have done that in the first place...

Front ones? Aren't scuff plates those things that look like steps on the back bumper of the hatchback?

They're the same things that are commonly referred to as door sills. But I believe the rear ones are called scuff plates too.

Make sure to clean the area where the tape will be sticking to. This will create a better hold for the long run.
