Any car is better than a hatch. The tail lights reminds me of a Mitsubishi Lancer.

Between the new 6 and 2 this is really giving a good idea of what the next Mazda 3 will look like. I hope its more agressive in looks like the 6, not so cute as the new Mazda2.

The rear ends look totally different. The Mazda3 Flows and the taillights dip downwards towards the side. The Lancer is angly, and a "sharp" upwards angle towards the side. And the taillights look high on the back relative to the rest of the car.

I'd say the Mazda2 back looks kind of like a Lancer, but definately not the Mazda3

I think the lancer draws on many of the same design cues as the 3 but is more edgy in its appearence.

all small cars are going to be a little similar given they are the same size, same basic shape etc. but those two look nothing alike

My Opinion is I Really Dont like the looks i dont know about the peformance but im not feeling the rear i sure it will sell good if the price is low. & the New Mazda 6 I Reallly like it, It looks very similar to me ike the lexus Is250 thats my personal take
