Chuggg

I am here to voice my displeasure with Markham Mazda.
Just picked up my car this past Saturday morning at 9:15 or so, as agreed upon. I expected my car to be ready for my final inspection and have the papers signed and be happily on my way. But to my dismay, when I got there I had to wait 30 - 45 mins later before I can actually see my car. The salesperson that was handling it was sorta pacing around the office telling us that everything was normal and that the engineers or whatever is just doing a final checkup of the car, so that's why it's taking a while. In the background, my family and I heard him yell across the room to somebody in Cantonese that he needed to get the car ready for us (I don't' think he intended for us to hear that). It turns out that he went on vacation a few days ago, and just got back to work the same Saturday morning we went to pick up the car, so my suspicion was that he totally did not prepare the car for us to pick up and was just rushing the job now in the morning.
Anyway, we ended up checking out the car 45 mins later. We gave it a detailed inspection and found out that the car was not washed properly on the outside and there were some scratch like marks on it. He immediately went to get a towel and some cleaner to wash off those marks (fortunately it came off). We asked him why it took so long and he said it was because the engineers or mechanics worked on our car yesterday and locked our key inside the car, so that's why it took a while to get it today (which was bullshit).
We inspected all the fluids and that was ok. Did all the other essential checks of the car. What worried me was that the car logged an additional 20 or so KMs since the day we made the offer. He explained that the mechanics were just testing it to ensure safety and quality. (I think that's bullshit too, but then again, what can I say?)
The inside of the car looked decent with just a few dirty marks here and there. I suspected that they skimped out on cleaning the inside of my car before delivery because they were rushing to get it to me this morning. And just today, I noticed a piece of tape on the inside of the windshield of my car which I believe was probably placed there earlier when they had my car in the show room for display when I first bought it and didn't do a good job cleaning it for delivery (which probably confirms my suspicion that they didn't even clean it!).
All in all, I felt that the people at Markham Mazda were very shady and dishonest in their dealings. If the salesperson were to go on vacation while promising to deliver the car ready on a specified date, I expect it to be ready for that date no matter what. And if it happens that they forgot, at least give an honest reason and make up for it instead of pretending that nothing has happened.
I don't think I'll ever go back to this dealership for service work. Neither will I be speaking kind words about this dealer with my friends and family. I just hope other Mazda dealers aren't like this at all because all the other cars that we got in our family had great service (Toyota, Honda and Mitsubishi) and gave me confidence in my purchase.
