I am here to voice my displeasure with Markham Mazda.

Just picked up my car this past Saturday morning at 9:15 or so, as agreed upon. I expected my car to be ready for my final inspection and have the papers signed and be happily on my way. But to my dismay, when I got there I had to wait 30 - 45 mins later before I can actually see my car. The salesperson that was handling it was sorta pacing around the office telling us that everything was normal and that the engineers or whatever is just doing a final checkup of the car, so that's why it's taking a while. In the background, my family and I heard him yell across the room to somebody in Cantonese that he needed to get the car ready for us (I don't' think he intended for us to hear that). It turns out that he went on vacation a few days ago, and just got back to work the same Saturday morning we went to pick up the car, so my suspicion was that he totally did not prepare the car for us to pick up and was just rushing the job now in the morning.

Anyway, we ended up checking out the car 45 mins later. We gave it a detailed inspection and found out that the car was not washed properly on the outside and there were some scratch like marks on it. He immediately went to get a towel and some cleaner to wash off those marks (fortunately it came off). We asked him why it took so long and he said it was because the engineers or mechanics worked on our car yesterday and locked our key inside the car, so that's why it took a while to get it today (which was bullshit).

We inspected all the fluids and that was ok. Did all the other essential checks of the car. What worried me was that the car logged an additional 20 or so KMs since the day we made the offer. He explained that the mechanics were just testing it to ensure safety and quality. (I think that's bullshit too, but then again, what can I say?)

The inside of the car looked decent with just a few dirty marks here and there. I suspected that they skimped out on cleaning the inside of my car before delivery because they were rushing to get it to me this morning. And just today, I noticed a piece of tape on the inside of the windshield of my car which I believe was probably placed there earlier when they had my car in the show room for display when I first bought it and didn't do a good job cleaning it for delivery (which probably confirms my suspicion that they didn't even clean it!).

All in all, I felt that the people at Markham Mazda were very shady and dishonest in their dealings. If the salesperson were to go on vacation while promising to deliver the car ready on a specified date, I expect it to be ready for that date no matter what. And if it happens that they forgot, at least give an honest reason and make up for it instead of pretending that nothing has happened.

I don't think I'll ever go back to this dealership for service work. Neither will I be speaking kind words about this dealer with my friends and family. I just hope other Mazda dealers aren't like this at all because all the other cars that we got in our family had great service (Toyota, Honda and Mitsubishi) and gave me confidence in my purchase.

ouch.. congrats on ur car though..

a lot of ppl here have talked poorly of markham mazda too.. not sure how far away you are from yonge and steels but a lot of ppl try to drive up to mazda of toronto (just south of steeles on yonge) for service..

I'm not sure if there are any other good mazda dealerships closer to you.. maybe avante?? I think they're around hwy 7 and yonge but I'm not 100% sure..

anyways, try to not let the bad experience take the joy away from driving ur car around..

Was it new or used?

It's a new 2007 mazda3 GT. Bought it with those major rebates they had going earlier so I got a pretty good deal.

If the car wasn't one of the few remaining ones on the lot and had the only colour that I liked, I would had declined to sign those papers and just called the deal off at that point.

Originally I was gonna buy from MoT, but they didn't have the Mazda3 colour that I wanted so I went with Markham Mazda.

I work right at yonge/finch so I might consider taking it to MoT for servicing and what not. Maybe meet even The Biz too haha

Putting some km's on it during the PDI is normal.

As for the cleaning... I'm not sure they really do all that much in the way of interior cleaning for a brand new car. It should already be pretty clean. They generally just wash the outside and tidy it up, so far as I know.

On the delivery checklist, one of the things was "cleaned interior".

But yeah, I would have wanted the car clean cuz it was in the showroom before i bought it, so people would go in and out of that. And it wasn't exactly that clean when I picked it up... for instance, the salesperson was showing me the buttons for the moonroof and once he directed his finger to the buttons, there was a huge black stain smeared across it and he pretended that he didn't see it.

Another thing was that the exterior wasn't cleaned either... there were some marks on it (which looked more like scratches) which he hastily cleaned up once we pointed it out to him.

I dunno... comparing to my previous car shopping experience at Mitsubishi and Toyota... Markham Mazda has ways to go to satisfy a customer who's paying a 20Ks to you.

don't go back for service. I got my car there as well but never had your issues.
I heard too many stories about their bad service so I am going to avante/MOT for warranty/service work.

Sorry to here about your disappointment at pickup... really that should be the best part of buying a car.

We didn't have the colour??? I could have gotten one I am sure. currently we have 2 inventories we have been dipping into. :)

Make sure you say hi when you do come in for service.

True, but 20? normally it takes 2 kms, max.

Hey Jeff... not sure if you had the colour. The mazda3 I bought was the 2007 model that was at the end of the year with the rebates and such, so it was pretty limited in inventory around the GTA. I think you guys had a red in the showroom. haha I wanted something different besides the gray and silvers so I ended up getting a phantom purple at Markham.

For sure dude... I'll PM or email you in advance if I need to come in for service.

Dont go to Agincourt Mazda.....

The only person that I like from Agincourt Mazda is the nice lady at the service desk. I dont know who's running the shop, and who's doing their detailing, but when I picked up my 2006 Mazda 6, they had promised to clean the interior, but that was never done. I've b*tched about it twice now, and finally they have it scheduled for when they flush my transmission on friday.

from now on, i'm taking all my servicing to MOT, avante's just a LITTLE too far for me (i live 2 minutes from agincourt mazda)

never ask dealer to wax ur new car. when i pick up my mazda3 back to july 2007, they kindly wash and wax yhe car, and i found out they may use larger number wax for it, and it remained those circles mark on paint. this time i told them donot wax, just touchless clean it if its dirty. bodyshop will do the diamount coatting on that and thats the look (always wet looking) and protection you need.
