I like the look of the new cutoff. What was your overall cost if you don't mind me asking?

I'd like to do this, but I really don't wanna open up my headlights again. sigh.

Roughly $300 But it'll be cheaper for those that already have OEM HID's. And I had another 3 owner bidding against me for the Evo8 lens which bumped up the price on ebay, had we worked something out before hand I would have saved another $60 there.

Why do the upgrade only to downgrade your light output?

Roughly 15-20ft.

what do you mean??

like, i know 8000k are less bright than 6000k, but i figure everything would balance out if im going with a 50w kit.

plus, i want a bluer light
i dont know yet tho. i'll probably see how the 6000k look first in the 3series housing

I'd have to disagree, 8000k should be pretty low intensity one way or another. Why even bother, go on a long drive and you'll want to tear the HID's out.

Operator, what year is your car? As I've read, the original Mz3's had really frosted lenses but now they aren't to bad. I'll try to take a 20ft picture but I find with my HID kit that I still get a pretty defined cutoff. Probably not as super sharp as the EVO lenses but may not be worth my while.

Agreed. Stick with the lower HIDs.

Couple times a week when driving home, I see the same red Lancer with what has got to be 8000k bulbs. The glare is unbelievable, even if he's three cars behind, and I'm driving my Xterra instead of the 3.

I purchased the OEM HID's so I'm not sure the year of the car. And the mod would be alot cheaper for you as you already have OEM HID's and bulbs.

Keep in mind the following pics were taken after a heavy rain so the puddles are causing some glare. All a good distance from the wall. Also the bulbs are also brand new so they may shift a bit more.

Flickers? any idea what might be the cause?

Operator

Someone told me
over at hid planet the flicker is explained as more of an optical illusion even when it seems that both sides have basically the same amount of color. My drivers side is also more purple then the passenger side when standing in front of them, but with a reflection off store windows they both flicker like deep purple and blue. Go figure!!.

Yes I'm running a 50w kit. But it's the OEM HID Projector housings. And a non-rebased bulb. And you can find the Evo8 lenes for $55-$145. All depends on how ebay treats you that day.

The ballast might be going or water might have been in the connector, I sent them for replacement... Well.. Not sent yet...

I'm using my old phillips max lighting h7s and nokya h11s for night driving...

I must push myself to express post my HIDs.. LOL

I had same problem except passangers side was flickering/blinking very fast, almost seems like unnoticable. I always thought it was due to bad wiring between contacts or defected ballast
