nice, i was actually looking at those rims a while back...
do they rub at all?? but then agian, your not lowered...yet
im on sportlines....so there is a difference there.
im still thinkin i might get some 18x8.5 rims, and stretch some 215's on there...

TYLERM7
01-06-2008, 10:06 PM
thanks for the compliments. THE PRINGS ARE COMING!!!!! ALREADY ORDERED! so im just waiting on them to arrive and then comes the install and fenders rollin' party. as of right now, i dont rub. there only 18x8's but i ordered the PRO-KIT from eibach so its not gunna srop it to much that i should rub. if i do, its only at full lock, and i dont race or anything like that so the only time im at full lock is when im turning out of a parking spot or something like that. so im not too worried about it. i think 8.5s might be pushing it though, depending on the offset, b/c mine are +45 and my front sticks out like a 1/4 of an inch. not enough to look bad, but i think and 8.5 might be pushin it. idk though. im STILL a rookie at the whole "car" thing. im learning though.

I'm really digging the nice gauge rings that you painted in white. It contrasts well with the rest of the dash. Might have to steal that idea... heh Hope you don't mind.

go for it man! THATS AWSOME THAT SOMEONE WOULD USE AN IDEA OF MINE. it seems like im the only, if not one of the VERY small % of ppl that has done that. a lot of ppl that see it didnt ever think to do that, but i think it stands out really well. but thanks for the compliment. hope it turns out nice. OH, and that piece just pops right off by the way.

TYLERM7.. i was just wondering.. what kind of paint did you use for the interior?.. i'm just simply amazed at the coloring... i colored my OEM floor mats with water base paint and when it dried.. it was rough :S

TYLERM7
01-07-2008, 01:43 AM
true..... thats the ONLY reason i didnt buy a new 3. i am not a fan of the beige interior at all. no offense. but the dark interior looks much better to me i think, and it came on the 05' so thats what i got. but dont let me stop you. go for it man! lemme know how it turns out

Hi TylerM7,

just wanted to know if you removed the trim peices before you painted them or did you use a brush to paint.

Maybe seeing that you are new here you can post your first DIY.

Always looking for cheap mod's

Thanks

man i wish i had a camera at the time that i did all these mods, but it was when i first got my car. everything is pretty simple though. the cool thing about our cars is that most of the pieces just "pop" right off. center console, all trim pieces, etc. when i painted everything, i took everything apart. its much easier to get a nice clean look when you spray something as opposed to brush painting it on. lemme know if there is anything that you might want to do, and ill take pictures to see if i can help.

How did you go about painting/masking the symbols on the battery lid and fuse box lid? I think the reversed color symbols are a nice touch.

I'm going to be painting the battery and fuse box lids and engine cover the same way, but in satin gold. Mine is an '06 so I don't have the cool engine cover.

TYLERM7, can you post picture of your gauges?. is it me, or did you also colored some parts of the gauges?

well the easiest way to do it is to just paint what you want to paint, and then i took a little bit of sandpaper and just sanded it away.... but ppl have said that they have used paint pens and stuff to just make little things like that black. its up to you though.

yes sort of.. i was thinking that you'd take a picture where i can see your speedometer rather than at an angle... it looks like you colored parts of your tachometer

TYLERM7
01-08-2008, 02:44 PM
OHHHH.... no i havnt taken apart the guage cluster YET!!! i plan to do it soon, b/c i want to swap out all the LED'S on the circuit board to match the A/C unit. i havent done anything to the tachometer or anything like that, but i may do something like change them to white. who knows

fred333
