Is this a good kit for starters? I'm planning to put some sub in my 3. I have a $50 coupon at best buy and saw this kit.
Any suggestion about this kit? It's on sale... :chuckle

Thanks!

Insignia is a Best Buy home brand, quality has not been good, but hey for $150 amp and speakers, you can't go wrong...for starters that is.

Do they have a demo setup there so you can hear and compare to the other units they have setup? And is a box included?

As a Best Buy employee... I would highly recommend you DO NOT purchase this kit. Insigina is our budget line and the product quality reflects it.

Insignia has never been good, and we get a lot of returns on it.

The Insigina TVs we have have a return rate of approximately 40%.

I can only expect a similar result in Car Audio.

Thanks Xenon! I appreciate your honesty :):chuckle

Do you have any suggestion what to get with my $50 coupon?
How about a cheap but nice remote starter? :chuckle

chiming in. ya.. insignia.. probably shouldn't but i wouldn't say 40% return rate on the tv's. probably 25%.
being a fs tv guy.

do you have a coupon or a gift card?

Lately, the last year's models of the RF P3 woofers have dropped to make room for the new ones, Best Buy also [finally] carries Alpine Type R woofers. You may want to look at that too.

You get what you pay for. If you think $149 for a system is good enough then get it. Personally, nothing in my car can be had for that cheap except maybe the wiring, just my deck alone was $500. So maybe save up and spend a little more or look at something else to buy like a DVD or a few CD's

Return rates vary from store to store.... Insigina has an unusually high return rate at our store. Most people dump it for a name brand.

Ok guys so i end up buying the Sony...

Sony Xplod Amplifier & 10" Subwoofer (XM-1252GTR / XS-L100P5H) (http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0926INGFS10095351&catid=20118)
Now I'm wondering can i put two 10' with this? sorry im totally n00b... :p
I test the insignia it sound good but the best buy guy said that it's will only sound nice with the box installed on it, which is this one Bassworx's Dual 12" Slot Ported Subwoofer Enclosure (GPH212BK) (http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0926INGFS10076989&catid=20121)
I want to buy the same speaker so i can put 2 10'. but not sure if the amp can handle it?

Thanks!

Yes you can use 2 subwoofers, power rating will drop to 125watts per channel/(woofer) compared to the 340watts into one channel/(woofer) but undoubtably with much higher distortion. But you must realize you'll need a box for these also, either ported or sealed just like the Insignia's

...plus I'm not trying to negate your purchase but Sony has been known to lets say, exaggerate their power ratings...So I don't think it would be wise to go for 2 subs, you might find that using just one sub would give better sound.

Dudes,
i had this in my car since boxing day, got it for $100 in bestbuy.
CANT GO WRONG . Seriously, i bridged it and it shakes my car.
Every one of my buddies is suprised how much i paid for this and how loud it is.
I got it enlosed in a sealed box.

Seriously this is a great kit for starters. 2 of my buddies are getting exact same thing now after they went for a ride in my car.

Even one of my friends does competitions with $1500 + setup and his sounds just a little louder than mine. he has 700Watt setup when mines is bridged to 500 watts.

I had doubts about the brand, but speaker is just a piece of coil and a cone... only thing that can blow is the amp. but again i had it since xmass and no problems what so ever.

Just the damn back pannel keeps rattling lol :P
