I need winter rubbers and rims for my new speed3 and I am debating on what to get.

I am currently in Ottawa for the weekend and want to know if these would fit? They were on a 3GT Sedan before. I just need something for the rest of winter...Dealer is selling me 215 50 r17 set for 1990.00$ and that is just not in my budget.

And I am not sure why dealer says steelies wont work?

the tires of WS60 i bought was 980 incl everything, and goodyear supergrip was 1200 that time. they are highend tires as well, but 1990+tax(may be) is way too high unless thats incl set alloy.

not 100% sure really...just the price scared me a little...Sunny is selling his snowflakes so I might as well buy them from him. I would only need to find rubbers...but 400$ for steelies and tires would be cheep enough to get me through and figure out when spring time what my rim\tire situation is....

if you can buy a cheap alloy, dont buy the steelies. i got a set used alloy from Dan, looks way better than plain black steelies ( i got my rubber alreay tho, thats different case). after years, i can still sell them for something, the steelies just gonna worth nothing (they do rust).

I got my winters through the dealer. 17" snowflake rims (normal mazda 3 rim) and Toyo winter tires for $1700 labour and taxes and everything included. When I went to get my package from the dealer, they were back ordered on 17" steels, and 17" are the smallest rims that fit over our front brakes, so I got the alloys. The package I got was $1500 before tax and install, so I am 100% sure you can bargain them down to that with the same rims and tires.

Thanks for the heads up. Looks like rubbers for 17in are hard to find especially in the middle of winter...will probably need to order them in...just can't drive until then....

i ended up keepin my stock rims as my winter rims because i plan on getting new rims when spring comes around... i paid 800 for winter tires on the stock 18s... but you can fit 17 inch steelies for the same price too... if the dealer is telling you that you can't fit steelies on a speed 3 they're lieing... if you're tryin to save money on rims why bother buying seperate winter rims? thats the way i see it

got some used steelies (P205/55R16) at 70%-75% thread for 360$ to get me through the next couple months. Will use alloy next year with new tires... just seems like a bad time to buy winters. all the best deals are done. hope maybe for a GB next winter.

thanks everyone for your help! much appreciated!
