2008 Sport shift thread diameter

Here's a question for the techies in the group:

Anyone know what the thread diameter is for the top of the stock stick in the 2008 3 Sport?

Also, is there a metal bushing available that will fit this thread? If so, where can I find it and what is it's outside diameter?

I do woodturning as a sideline business and want to make a prototype shift knob for my 3, hence the questions.

10x1.25 is the thread on the stock shifter.

Thus diameter is 10mm.

Thanks Gizzmo. Can I assume that the 1.25 refers to the length of the thread (ie 1.25 inches of thread?) and, if so, what are the measurement units?

Second unit is Pitch. 1.25 threads per millimetre.
Total length of the threads available I have no idea. Best to take off the knob and measure.
