Went to Speedorama to check out whats up and to see the first show of 2008. It was pretty good, I expected a lot more though, it was only one section and once you walk into the event, you see the whole thing already! Its definally made for a different crowd though... some older cars on display, but amazingly kept and very custom!

I dunno if any of you know this.. but this car is SUPER RARE!!! Would have loved to see it in person... I believe this car did low 13's, maybe 12's out of the box, 3.8L V6 Turbo Intercooled...

my neighbor had one for a couple seasons. granted it was a quick car but had its slew of problems along with it. most probably just due to age though. ran a ~134 at cayuga with no mods from original or from when he got it. probably would have done better with a tune up first lol.

You sure your neighbor's wasn't just a GrandNational? - still a fast car....ahem...in a straight line. This is the GNX we're talking about...much MUCH more rare.

shit, aint i biting my tongue now. yes his was a GN. Shoulda looked closer to see that it was indeed a GNX in the pic.

Exactly.. the GNX is freaking rare... I don't even know the technical differences.,.. all I know is different rims, fender vents and quicker. Yeah, definitely a straight line performer, nothing more, nothing less. Kinda what I am into, quarter mile. But for its time, one of the quickest production vehicles out there, I think... lol

I still have a VHS recording of MotorTrend's American Classic review of the GrandNational and GNX.
The GNX was an extra $11,000.00 option to the GrandNational (GrandNational was about $17,500.00). Only about 500 GNX made it off the line - all in black. Different turbo, intercooler, suspension amongst others. I don't think GM even revealed official power output of the GNX but it has been rated by independent reviews at 300hp (not sure if that's at the wheels or the crank).

Oh...and there has been unconfirmed reports of federal agencies purchasing some of these...

My father too had told mea years ago that the CIA was using the Buick GN, apparently as chase cars. Extremely fast for their time, I would still love to own a mint example. I love GM G-Body cars, especially the GN.
