I can't find it now, but i saw a few units in a thread somewhere where a guy was selling oem Satellite navigation units for the 3 and i wondered if they were preloaded with cnd maps or not?

since i can't find them again, if you happen to know where they are that would be handy lol :chuckle

Most ALL GPS systems have "north america" maps on them... I looked into getting the OEM gps unit before i got my garmin nuvi 650... and st. catharines mazda said it would fit my car after reading off part numbers..

What is the cost? Can MOT get the units or is it cheeper buying from U.S mazda dealer?

They definitely come with Canadian maps in them. I checked this when looking to buy my car in the US.

Well the factory flip-up screen is $1,992.64 CDN. You would have to source the DVD player/GPS unit elsewhere.

Easier to get the replica screen from Devon and hook it up to a Garmin black box GPS unit.

But is it a touch screen? Doesn't say in the description...

I didn't think Mazda's was a touch screen though, so what would make the difference?

lol for 2000$ I would think touch screen... if it's not touch screen how are you supposed to work it? with the remote? How awkward!

http://www.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/rolleye/rolleye0010.gif Well I always thought that the controls for the OEM NAV were these.

true....

I am not a big fan of those controls...would have to try them before I buy.

The 5 series BMW that I have played with before had a NAV system and it didn't have a touch screen. You get used to the controls pretty quickly.

That's correct. Neither are touch screens... and you wouldn't want them to be. Look at the location of the screen. It's not really within arm's reach and would be impractical as a touch screen.

The OEM one uses the controls by the shifter. The Garmin GVN-53 uses a remote control.
