I went on Monday and didn't really see any. I think the independent booths only have models on weekends. I'll probably go again this Saturday.

I was there on sunday, Mitsu was the only dealer to have decent looking girls... I have some pix from the show... I'll upload them tonight.. hafta go through them and upload the best ones I can find. Show was really good though, vendors sucked this year... and the lack of "hoz" was kind of disappointing. Much better last year... signed up for a credit card cuz the girl was hot :chuckle

the S5 was byfar my favourite car there... if you stay past 10 untill they kick you out, you can watch the people move some of the cars haha... me and my buddys watched them move the GT-R, it sounds waay too nice

Yeah, but I can't take all the credit :chuckle. It's somewhat of a common technique. It was a PIA to get it for the GT-R cuz the glass barrier was waist high. Very awkward getting the camera in and out of there. (Plus my lens is still not wide enough)

One of the perks of working for Nissan :) I also got in the one behind the glass before we had it sent to Edmonton...unfortunately I didn't have my camera with me when it was there. When they moved it everybody got to watch and hear the engine but that was the one day I got off early!

I should have taken some more shots and got one of the engine bay too but I was tired after working 96 hours in the 10 days of the show! I took that pic on the last day and I was in a hurry to get out of there.


Upon closer inspection (and with all due respect to auto drivers on the forum):

Its a dual clutch automatic so it downshifts way faster than a manual transmission could...a twentieth of a second! Of course it would be more fun to drive a conventional stick transmission in order to have the control. Because the car is so speed/performance oriented they chose the fastest option.

Evo x with DSG is slower around the track then a manual is... i hate auto trannies but i am sure some people like them and will pay for this kind of car only to sap the joy out of it with a slush box flappy paddle tranny

Haha...several of the companies contract "talent" agencies to staff models as product reps...Mistubishi, Toyota, Lexus, Volvo, Chrysler, etc. The others companies hire students like me who are studying automotive marketing and actually know something about cars (on top of being highly attractive)!

I noticed that too but now-a-days with double clutch transmissions that shift consistently faster than the average driver the common negative perception of automatic transmission may be inaccurate.

At the auto show I saw one guy get in the seat of the Evo. He steps out and tells his girl friend that the car sucks cuz it’s an automatic. I guess he didn’t notice the “Twin Clutch SST” label beside the automatic shifter.

I don’t know the specs of these things but even though the Mitsu’s may be slightly slower than the manual (according to Unoriginalusername), I don’t think you can turn your back on cars equipped with these so easily. At least I won’t (coming from an owner of Mazda 3 5-spd manual).

We've previously reported on how the GPS system fitted to the GT-R would remove the 111 mph (180 kph) speed limiter when the car arrives at a track, but according to Niikura, it will only work on pre-approved racetracks. However, the GPS sensor doesn't automatically remove the limiter by itself, it has to be manually changed by navigating through a series of menus on the GT-R's touch screen. While having to go to a Nissan-approved track is daft in its own right, it's even worse when you leave. After the track day, owners are required to head on over to a Nissan High Performance Center where a $1000 safety check is performed. Don't do it and the factory warranty is void.
